Drat! All of the legs near me are filled.
I hope some folks from the forum can help out! |
Unfortunately I'm going to have to cancel it. I wish I had found this forum sooner, it may have helped. Thanks. |
Welcome to the forum. Sorry it didn't work out -- yet.
Word of advice regarding timing of posts liek these, the forum has the most visitors on Monday and the fewest on Saturdays, followed by Fridays and Sundays. So you might want to post things like this on Sunday night. Also if you let me know, perhpas I can put up a request for time sensitive things like this on the front page of the website, and I've been thinking about starting an RSS feed that people can put on THEIR websites so that time sensitive things can be WIDELY distributed in a timely fashion. Let me know if you're interested. |
Will it be rescheduled?
Ron, it would be great to have a RSS feed! thanks, sue |
Ron - thanks again for the welcome and letting me know the best time to post requests like this.
As for rescheduling, there is a paid transport that comes up to the new england area, $100 per dog. We may decide to go that route since this is a 3 day transport. Normally I can get NY to fill pretty easily but not on a workday. The woman who pulls from the shelter in Arkansas was willing to drive the first 2 legs but I was having a difficult time finding drivers for TN and KY. The only thing we didn't like about the paid transport was that the dogs are in a horse trailer. There are about 25-30 dogs stacked about 3 crates high. If one dog is sick it could easily spread to all of them, but I guess it's better than the alternative. This shelter in AR is run by a prison and most dogs don't make it out. There is one woman who pulls from the shelter but she can't go into it since she is a woman and would have to be escorted by a prison guard. The dogs live outside and the only shelter they have are cut up barrels. When she pulls them she fosters them at her house but they are outside. |
