Fasting OES
I have one of those OES that is not a big eater. As a matter of fact I think he hates eating anything unless it is of course a cookie. I have noticed over the past year that at least once a month he will go for at least 2 days without any food at all and shows little interest in his milkbones. Afterwards he returns to normal eating 2 to 3 cups per day, reluctently. The Vet says Bam-Bam knows what his body needs better than we as he shows know signs of illness and is a lean 84 lbs. at 4 years old. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this type of behavior in their OES? |

I do,   Pisco rarely eats at the most 3 cups a day and he can go up to 3 days without food!!! ....took him to the vet (they`ve done all these tests on him...will have the answer and results on friday). |

Maybe it will answer some questions. Seems several people have posts on that topic (under wieght). We keep reassuring people that OES's normal weight range is from 60-110 LBS. A large range. Lighter weights are easier on the bones, joints, and heart. In the heat a fully haired OES will go up to 3 days without eating, this is not abnormal. Make sure they have plenty of water. Might want to check the other posts ... there was lots of good information and hints. You can always search for them using the SEARCH tab at the top of this and every page. JUst change the option from searching topics to searching posts ... we tend to go off topic here  .
