Any advice? Liz |

Liz,
I have the same wonder myself......Pisco also weights 57 lbs (but he is 11 months)...I am visiting another vet now, and he says pisco is a little underweighted...but the other vet told me he was just fine the way he is... I have been told and also read that it doesn`t really matter the weight...but in OES the whole proportion of the dog it`s what counts...there are pettite OES and big OES, I understand it`s because the original breeder wanted both types of dogs, to do different chores.... |
If you want to see how your dog compares to others owned by members and guests of the forum, go to sheepie survey post under Chit Chat by Lil Walty. It is in a STICKY so that it is always at the top of Chit Chat topic. You can see what everyone's dogs weigh, how old they are, what they eat, and lots of other trivia about all of our dogs. We even update information there ... please feel free to add your dog's bio to our growing list, if you haven't already done so. My memory is getting sketchy lately .... I will have to go back and review them myself soon.
Also Vero has a post going about her dog's weight. She has gotten a lot of good responses ... it is under this topic, Worried about Pisco at http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?t=758. If your dog is not lethargic and you don't see his ribs poking out, then Huggs is probably at a good weight for where he is in life. At about 18 months male dogs start filling in, but some have been know to take a lot longer. Somebody's dog actually went through a growth spurt at 4 or 5 years of age, but I cannot remember whose it was? Abbi is 5 and wieghs 72 lbs. At 2, she was 62lbs. |
