This is the only time he mouths or snaps. He doesn't have a biting or chewing problem in any other way. Somehow, it doesn't seem like a "no bite" command situation, although we're trying to apply it when we can. Do you think this is behavior that he will grow out of and I should just be patient (and careful)? Should I just take it upon myself to not put myself in a situation where he may snap kiss? Anyone else have a bitey kisser and what did you do about it? |

Jill...does he snap kiss during play? Panda gives good kisses when things are calm and will do it on command, but last night I was on the floor playing with her and she snap kissed me a few times....once on my nose...ouch.....I have to go back to the "NO BITE"...then she sasses me...Its all in the play I think.......How do you stop it???? |
It is usually snuggling after either play or just some roughhousing. I know it isn't vicious and at his size and age, I know he doesn't realize how rough he's being. I've tried whimpering too (which wasn't even fake) but it doesn't deter it in the first place but I'm hoping it teaches him the consequence that what he does hurts us. |
That sounds like a Beau kiss! He would get so lovey that he would nip my ear, lip, chin, eyebrows and he was almost nine. I used to tell him nice kiss too but he was so happy to see me he just couldn't help himself. I got used to bruises in unusual places Like Beau, I'm sure he doesn't realize that it hurts. |
Pepsi does that too when he's very excited.
I will push him away until he calms down a bit. Then the kisses aren't so toothy. I also say "OWWW" really loud and kinda whiny. lol |
