I counted out what we will be paying in $. We bay the gas in liter and one gal is 3,785 liter. We pay NOK 12,- pr. Liter, and $1,- is NOK 6,5043. So we pay $6,98 pr. Gal! Thank goodness for small cars and cheap(er) gas in my town! I think if gas prices ever got to 4 or 5$ a gallon, I'd need to change jobs... It'd be too expensive to commute, and i don't have a park and ride by me. Of course, working closer to home wouldn't be all that bad- lunch time with Pippin!!! |

You sound like a true country girl. Should I start calling you "outlander?" |
$2.79 a gallon today. Cost $40 + to fill up my SUV which I practically live in for work since I am constantly traveling all over south Louisiana for business. |
cost 2.63/ gal on Sun when I filled up which was DOWN from the week before. Couldn't believe it, just thankful and hope it continues. |
Today there were line ups at the pumps because it was up to $1.12 a liter last week and today was at $1.01 today. That is about $3.84 a gallon, which converted into US funds is still about $3.50 a gallon. |

$3.09 gallon for the cheap stuff, $3.27 for premium. Good Old NY State. |
LOOKIE LOOKIE what I just got in my inbox. It's for this weekend at our local BX/PX on base!

Your fuel is sooooooo cheap, come and live in the UK !!! We pay over £1.00 per litre - god knows what we pay for a gallon
Oh and don't get me started on the tax we pay ahhhhhhh Having said all that, I love living here |
Holly, what's a fudgie?
It's $2.85 here... |
I haven't been near a gas station since last Sunday, but then it was $2.79. Seems cheap after the $3 prices, lol What's sad is that just 10 years ago (my senior year of high school), it was still less than $1. I could fill up my car for $15. Hope it doesn't keep going up at that rate. If so, hope our pay follows suit. |
Ollie's Mum wrote: Your fuel is sooooooo cheap, come and live in the UK !!! We pay over £1.00 per litre - god knows what we pay for a gallon Current Conversion rate... 1GBP=1.88USD and there are 3.78 litres per gallon, so:
£1.00 * 1.88 * 3.78 = $7.11 per gallon. |
Thanks for converting this Ron, math was never my strong point
So you pay around $2.79 and I pay $7.11 per gallon mmmm something not right there. And do you know what, 80% of that cost is what goes straight to the government - thieves !! All talk about cost being the same in Europe is absolute rubbish - my parents live in Spain and they pay around half the cost in fuel, as opposed to the UK. Oh well, better do some work, so "they" can take more tax off me !! |
My BIL sent me this site. Just put in your zip code and it will show the current prices at local gas stations.

I paid 2.99 9 last night. Was shocked to pay $50 to fill up the tank. I rarely buy gas these days because I commute. I filled up the big car last night..... |
I paid 2.82 9 here in rural VA at the CHEAP gas station. One gas station in the area is at 2.89 9; the other two I saw prices of were 2.87 9 and 2.83 9 (at a full service station). Friday in Richmond I almost filled up at Sams on Broad Street and they were 2.94 and between there and I-64 one gas station had 2.99 9. It was interesting to see a gas price switch as usually I think Richmond is slightly cheaper (well at least Sams Club with the 5 cent discount). |
Here is Enfield, CT gas is just about the same--high priced--at 3.01 for unleaded regular. That's when I go to the Stop and Shop pump. I get 15 cents off each gallon with my card and a coupon. There is usually a line of cars and one must get used to being patient. It costs me $25.00 for about a half a tank full. I have a Santa Fe.

A fudgie or flatlander is someone who's from downstate MI and comes up on weekends. We call them that because they all seem to buy fudge when they come up, we also call them trunk slammers and cone lickers (ice cream) among other less than flattering names But we LOVE the money they spend! |
