If so, how much does your OES weigh, how much are you feeding him/her, and how frequently? Our breeder, an internationally recognized OES breeder, starts to wean her puppies off of puppy food at about six months, and of interest, transitions them over to Pro Plan Lamb and Rice (not a "large breed" formula). Our almost eight month old puppy is just over 50 pounds, and the Pro Plan recommended feeding is just over two cups per day, which seems pretty conservatve to me. Thoughts are appreciated. Thanks. |

I cant remember when we switched to adult dog food...I think that it was around 7-8 months...We feed Panda Nutro lamb and rice formula...1 cup in the am and 2 cups in the pm...she is on the small side, only 56 lbs...so that amount is perfect for her..I used to give her 4 cups, but she never ate it all, so I slowly subtracted out 1/4 cup at a time.... |
Clyde ate about 4-5 cups a day of large breed ProPlan and he weighs just about 90 pounds. I think we switched him over to adult around 9/10 months. I switched him to Merrick, since it was a better food, but he really does better on the ProPlan so now I compromise, 1 cup of Merrick, 2 cups of ProPlan. That seems to work pretty well for him. |
I feed Beau 2 cups of Pro Plan Adult food in the morning and 2 cups in the evening. With each feeding, he gets 1 tablespoon of canned dog food mixed in. Beau is a year and a half and weighs 82 pounds. |
I have 5 dogs on Pro Plan Extra Care Salmon Formula kibble. 2 of my big girls weigh about 63 pounds and get about 2 1/2 cups per day. I have a 45 pound special sheepie girl that gets about 1 3/4 to 2 cups per day plus 1 can of the ProPlan canned food (she's very active so requires the added calories). My 55 pound Border Collie-mix gets about 2 cups per day also. And my Schipperke-mix is 44 pounds and gets just under 2/3 cup dry and 1/2 cup canned (but she's kinda pudgy). Another sheepie-girl is 63 pounds and is getting about 2 1/2 cups per day of Science Diet c/d kibble. They also get a few treats throughout the day. Hope something here will help. |
