Just reposting this ....... Mynie Me is not getting any better, her vet wants us to come in and do a biopsy on her to find out what is making her so sick. Unfortunately, I am a single mom, with kids, in the middle of getting ready to move (06/01) and have run dry on funds for this girl. The biopsy is looking to be at least $600.00 and I have already contacted the Colorado OES Rescue and have been told they do not fund dogs that are not in their care (of course I assume if I turned her in they could help her, but I really do not want to do that). Does anyone else have any other ideas? I love my baby girl and I don't like to see her suffer any more than she needs to, and it is tearing up my boys (they love her so much -- she's their walking hair ball!). I have thought about a payment plan, which could be an option, however, I don't see my funds loosening up anytime soon and I can't put my family at risk (I am responsible for everything, dad still thinks he's a teenager and doesn't feel the need to help out ). Any ideas/thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all, Kirstin, Mynie and Co. P.S. Does anyone use doggie insurance? What is their thought on "pre-existing conditions"? Just curious if that is an avenue..... |

Have you tried some other vets to see if they are willing to help pro-bono? How about any Vetrinary Schools in your area- possibly a "teaching surgery" where it will help you financially....
Just some thoughts...I hope they prove helpful!! I hope she feels better and you are able to get the care for her she needs!!! Keep us posted! |
Hi Kirstin-
Pre-existing conditions are not covered with any insurance I've seen. They are either excluded permanently or short term. We had a round of diarrhea/vomiting and it was excluded for a short time on my two older dogs' policies. They completely declined issuance of a policy for Kaytee because she was too big a risk (cleft palate, nose deformity, harelip, mostly blind in her "good eye", one eye not formed right). A guest on another posting suggested this- http://www.carecredit.com No Interest Payment Plans- 3, 6, 12, & 18 month plan options No interest if the balance is paid within the specified time period Low minimum monthly payments We saw something similar at our vet's office a few months ago... with the one they had, you submit the application and when approved, you pay off the bill in 3 equal payments. |
Try contacting the University of Colorado, they are on the cutting edge of veterinary medicine and may be willing to help you. Your poor girl, I hope she feels better soon |
Kirsten, any update yet? |
Yes... how is Mynie doing?
I hope your sweet baby can get the biopsy done soon and start feeling as well as she possibly can. The office has my info. Hugs to Mynie. |
