Welcome to the forum Liz and Huggs,
Huggs has a great name! I am Stormi, mom to 2 uprights, Ashlan 6, and Joey, 3. Then my fur children are Jack (almost 1 years old) and Annabelle (9 mo) they are both OES's. We also have 4 Ragdolls ranging in age to almost 3 down to 6 mo. It did sound like fate for you and Huggs. Jack and Annabelle are very gentle with the kids, with the exception of the occasional bumping. I look forward to hearing more about Huggs. If you get time put a bio of your pets in the Sheepie survey. Stormi and co. |
Hi HuggsMom (Aka Liz)
Welcome, You are just going to love this site. Wonderful Puppies and People. I don't care how anyone acquires a Sheepie. As long as they love it as much as they always love you back. My first girl Odie, came from a Dockter Pet Center. My friend had gotten her there. Then I acquired her. at a year old, when they had to move and couldn't keep her. They paid a lot for her, and I got her for free. Yeah ! Trying to find another one of those at the moment. She was the greatest. She loved me, kids and hiking. She experienced a lot in her life. She was my little adventurer, never afraid of anything. My favorite, was when we took her backpacking and we had to take a seaplane into the area we were going to hike in. My Dad, who had set up the flight for us, told the pilot my dog was a lap dog (well she was). When we arrived he took one look at her and laughed "That's a lap dog?". Well he helped her in the plane, Odie was not afraid at all. Once in the air, he opened the side window for her. She just looked out like the rest of us and had a great time, and was eager to get on board again when he returned to pick us up, I think she thought this was a lot easier than hiking out. Huggs sounds like he's pretty terrific too. Good luck with him and keep in touch with us all here. We are all addicted to this place. |

Hi Liz and Huggs,
Welcome to the forum, sounds like you have your hands full with your up-rights, fur children and college. I have four up rights myself, one which is away at college, Drake my sheepie and a few fish. I am so glad you found our little corner of the world and look forward to pics |
Hi Liz
Huggs sounds lovely,I'm mum to Isobel the oes and also to 4 other dog's and at the moment a couple of foster dog's too. I found this site a while ago and then lost it again when my computer crashed but I managed to find it again this morning |
Huggs is such a GREAT name.
And welcome back Isobelsmum. I cannot think of anything to add, except ditto all of the above, including PICTURES and adding Huggs bio to the Sheepie Survey. Better check and see if it is already there, shouldn't I? I haven't looked at it in at least 3 days now ... Welcome!! |
Cant get enough OES!!! Tomorrow is our debut in speech class..... Hope he does alright. I want to show the class how gentile he is with the kids... but the 3 year old isnt so co operative as huggs is!! Bribery always helps though. I am working on a pic we took last night... trying to get it small enough to upload. Any hints?? I love all the sheepdog pictures!!! I adore looking at them!
A question; To shave or not to shave.... (Huggs that is) It gets warm in the summer here in Maine and I wanted him to be comfy, last summer we shaved him and have planend on it so far for this summer..... what does everyone think?? Liz |
HI Lizz,
Welcome to the forum and I'm sure like everyone else in here you will enjoy sharing stories and ideas with other Sheepie lovers from all over the world. The people in here and of course just like their dogs are all very friendly. Glad you decided to join us. Marianne |
Hiya Liz!
Glad to meet you here and to hear about Huggs. What a great name for a sheepie! Does he give hugs? Our own Shayleigh will jump up and hug me if I hold out my arms and say, "give me a hug". hehe. Nothing like hugs and kisses from a sheepie. Shaving? <shudder> I know everyone has their own opinion. I don't know which direction is 'right' as I have gotten conflicting views from various vets. Personally, I like the long-haired fluffy look of a well-groomed OES. If you shave, you won't get back to that look in a reasonable amount of time. I live in Atlanta. Summers here can be both hot and extremely humid. Shayleigh seems to weather them just fine in her long coat. We just have to keep both her inside and outside water bowls filled with fresh water (but that's what kids are for!). Hmm. I need to post pictures and a bit of Shayleigh's story as well. /bonk self. -John |
