P.S. Please disregard Dixie's skin. She didn't have time to get dressed to cover up for the picture. |

They would, if given the chance. I keep the lid closed. Nice that yours can share! |
Quote: I keep the lid closed
So do I. It is the 4 males that I live with who don't!!! |
Louie doesn't do this, but he's never been in a bathroom by himself (also keep the lids shut).
Dixie (:hearts:) looks so little compared to Bosley! |
When Mulligan came into our house, he made a beeline for the bathroom and lifted both the seat and the lid to get a drink. We had to close and latch every bathroom door at all times.
He was sooooo water oriented. If we put down water he'd finish it. We were VERY fortunate that we were able to assure him that water would always be available for him while not allowing him to drink himself into trouble. Just at some point he realized that we'd give him as much water as he needed. We have a guess that he was deprived of water in an attempt to get him to stop peeing in the house when excited. |
awwww. poor mulligan! glad he got over it. |
Jasper does it too - yuck! I tried to keep the seat down and the door shut, but with two potty-trained toddlers, it's almost impossible. Besides, the little booger has figured out how to lift the seat. I put him a water bowl beside the toilet, but nope...he still goes for the toilet water. So gross. |
Charlie has so he got told off, and we tend to keep the door shut as well as the lid. |
Dudley wont' even go into the bathroom.. he is almost the same size as my bathroom...
Murphy would drink it dry and them flush for a refill....if I let him Little Sadie, exhibits the same toilet drinking tendencies. I keep the lid down and now with the puppy around, the door shut as well. |
Virgil and Martin were horrible about visiting "their" water bowl in the bathroom. When they were little (before all of us learned to keep the bathroom doors shut) we tried a child proof potty lock. Virgil was used to going in, lifting the lid and seat and having a drink. The first time he tried to do that with the lock on he was so shocked! It was ...what is this????....I will tell it to obey me now...and it was bark bark bark bark bark...with his best military voice. He was so upset that it wouldn't obey his order to open. After all, that same tone of voice has been getting mom to obey now for years! lol |
Oh, I forgot to add. Brigham can OPEN the bathroom door! He finally realized that it makes Mom crazy and was nice enough to stop.....to every other dogs dismay. |
Blue just started this charming habit (Charmin habit?). Although, that may be more because we're better at keeping the doors closed during the winter, and now that spring is here, they get left open more often. The other night, we couldn't figure out how Blue kept coming in the office with a wet beard when we didn't hear him going downstairs. We'd dry him, he'd run out, and come back wet again. (We keep towels in strategic places around the house to dry his mouth after a drink.) We quickly realized it was the toilet and we were thoroughly grossed out. |
Pippin doesn't do this, but guess who does??? Yep that's right, my dainty birthday girl Bell LOVES toilet water! Never understood that- a cat who likes toilet water... |
Forget the toilet, its the bathroom garbage for Bunk. |
My two do it if the boys in this house forget to put the lid down.
I think the appeal is that the toilet water stays colder. Even when they have full bowls of water they seem to prefer the toilet. Not fun when I sit down and try to figure out if it's water on the seat or did someone not lift the lid Ewww Karen, My Cat Tiger also drinks out of the toilet |
HAAAAAAAAA that photo is hilarious!!!
Hey just saw they actually have toilet shaped water bowls for pets on the market now...but with yours - two sheepies can drink at once! Now that's sharing! Marianne and the boys |
My first sheep dog Toby had his own bathroom with a toilet never used for anything else but his water in one house we lived in. He didn't transfer his attention to another toilet when we moved. Percy, my youngest cat will drink form the toilet if he gets a chance but Willoughby doesn't so far.Lynda |
Sorry to hijack this post temporarily but Lynda..(who just posted) please call me again and leave your number. I have been trying to get hold of you! Groaners...lost my phonebook.
