We've made a few changes to www.oes.org The front page of the site has been re-arranged, and a new picture is welcoming visitors. Dewey had been around for quite a while, and has now been given his own page in the photos section. Forum members might recognize our new member John Arnold's Shayleigh, who is now putting a good face on our website. The background of the main site used to be a gradient .gif file, but unfortunately we've come to learn that most users' computers were not able to see a nice smooth gradient, and it looked really awful... so that's been changed to a solid color. The forum topics links page is now dynamic, as soon as a new topic appears, it will appear on that page. The oes rescue contacts page has now been sync'ed with the rescue list from neoesr.org. We would like to add more dynamic content to the main site. We hope to put a little box somewhere up front that tells people what's going on "back here" in the forum, such as how many members are currently visiting, how many posts there are, maybe what the newest topic is and the like. We're still looking for ideas on other content that can go on the other part of the site. Any suggestions? |

Gosh you do good work.
I've already wandered around seeing how everything looks and feels to move in and out of. What a great job. Shayleigh's pic is great and Abbi's pic for the Community is terrific. Any chance when Sweet Rosie Memories is ready to come off the Picture site in the Forum would you be able to add her over to the Memory Rainbow Bridge area? You have been busy, no wonder you haven't been able to finish Winston Part 3. Only kidding Ron! Thanks again for this renovation of an already wonderful site! |
Thanks for the kind words...
Sure! I've contacted you privately to discuss Rosie's page. You should know that at present I have NO intentions of removing posts from forum.oes.org, so Sweet Rosie Memories will live on. |
Ron,
Love the changes. My husband and dauhters were very proud to see Abbi as the community page's mascot. Angela told Abbi that she was a celebrity now! Everything seems to look/work great. Some times I wish that the topics had their own FAQ's or something. Seems a lot of visitors only get as far as the Behavior Topic and they miss answers to their questions that are right there ... not that we don't get a lot of new information or a different perspective to the repeated questions about puppy aggression, potty training, and food and stuff.... but somehow with all these new people/pups checking out the forum, maybe there's some better way to guide the newbies??. Also, could we move the Sheepie Survey by Lil Walt up to the top of Chit Chat . There's a lot of good information about Behavior, medical, and grooming in there? What do y'all think?? Should the Sheepie Survey have a place at the top furever?? Yay or Nay. |
yay |
Hey Ron. Looooooooooove the menu at the bottom with the pics of the sheepie from the Little Mermaid. |
Thanks Ron!
I love the little sheepie icons too! This place sure is looking better and better. Guess Spring is here! By the way, Ron moved the Survey to the top already! YAY!!! and thanks again. |
Thank you, Ron, for moving the sheepie survey up. I use it a lot to keep us with who is who. It will be a lot easier to find now. Also, thank you, agingright, for the wonderful suggestion. I am also on a Ragdoll cat forum, I should suggest a bio done on all of the raggies. Stormi and co. |

Ummm well... I'm a little embarrassed I didn't know they were from the Little Mermaid, I've never seen the movie... I'd hate to run afoul of Disney Studios... maybe since it took me several hours to do those silly little buttons they'll let me keep'em as original works of art... As far as the placement of the buttons... that may change someday, I just "hacked" them into the forum software, just stuck them at the end of the page in an unprofessional way. I tried placing them at the top of the page, just above where you see "forum.oes.org Forum Index -> General Chit Chat" on this page, but I couldn't get that to work well. I've been looking around for a way to make a column on the left side where I could put them, but the only solutions that I found were really bad ones (lots of work, lot of strain on the webserver). So this will have to do for a little while. Speaking of webserver strain, has anyone noticed the forum being very slow at times? I have one report (and I think I've seen it once) where the site took 20 or 30 seconds to deliver a page. If it happens to you when oes.org seems slow while you're able to see other websites (eg Yahoo or Google) quickly, can you let me know? Thanks. |
Ron
Yesterday at noon I tried to pop on quick to tell you I also loved the little sheepie buttons but it took forever and I finally gave up. I thought maybe you were doing some more changes and that was the problem. I went back to work and our puters there were real slow also. So I thought maybe there was something in the air! I am only on AOL and nothing else open when I'm here. Last nite it didn't seem as bad as noontime. As for the Little Mermaid. I am disappointed in you. It was one of the Disney movies I had yet seen and 2 years ago my niece finally brought to camp to watch. Well, there is this big ole Sheepie the Captain of the ship has. You must catch it. That's why I suggested that you contact Pixel or even Disney regarding Winston's story. I think he would be a big hit. You could get creative control and then have all the Sheepies here be included somehow on his travels. It would have potential for sequals also. If they thought they could make more $ down the road they might go FUR it! Then the proceeds could go to Grannie Annie for the Rescue dogs. Great idea, HUH ! |
