Hives ~ two legged issue

Tonight after handling class I have hives though. There was a few yorkies, a cavalier, a boston terrier and a german shepherd. LOL I wonder which one set me off? LOL Anyone else allergic to only certain breeds? With cats I am seriously allergic to them, but my own cats don't bother me much. My guess is eventually I become desensitized to whatever animals I am around a lot. |

| My vote is for all of the dogs combined. I notice that at our handling class too that I seem to wheez there occasionally. Maybe since they don't manage the dander & hair that well it just turns into an allergy tornado.
How do you do at dog shows?? |
| I seem fine at shows, but it is generally a larger area and well ventilated.... you're probably right combo hives! LOL |

| Nope, no allergies whatsoever actually, which is surprising! But I'm glad.....
I have so many hereditary issues, my parents probably shouldn't have repeated that breeding.  |
| Saliva issue. Maybe you keep your animals cleaner than they do. (thinking about the cats).

| My vote is for all of the stuff that the dogs carried in - trees, grasses, pollens, and dust. And it may be the combination is worse than a larger amount of just one allergen. |
| Were you nervous about the class? If you were at all nmervous my guess is that the combination of nerves and allergens heightened your response.
A true "allergic" response doesn't normally occur until the second or subsequent time you are exposed to something. The first time you are exposed your body developes antibodies to it then the second time you are exposed WHAM your allergic response kicks in. So what ever set you off was a kown allergen..... When you are under stress you immune system can be depressed which can make your more suseptible to it. If it happens again you might want to try one of the OTC allergy meds like Claritin before going to class. Just being stressed about something is enough to make me break out in hives sometimes. |
No, wasn't nervous about it at all, I was looking forward to it 
And as for second exposure, I've been really allergic to most dogs and cats ever since I can remember, we've always had pets. There was a cocker spaniel and a golden retriever arond before I was born. |

LOL...My Mom gets quite sad when I relay all my hereditary issues to her. Maybe that's why I'm an only child! I have allergies around many other dogs too, but not ones with long hair if they are groomed frequently. |
