Carpet Cleaner...

What works well for getting the urine smell out of carpet... I am so STRESSED... Sasha first made some messes when we got her and were house training her she was only messin at night so we had to use the kennel which was fine at night... then the pups come along and of course did some pee pee's around the house... and now the last couple weeks... Sasha just pee's in the house all the time.... I just want to cry.. my house smells so bad and seeing that she can smell it she is not going to stop the behavior.. we have one pup left until the weekend and she is jealous of him , not sure if she is doing it cause he pee's in the house or for attention or marking her territory... not sure if females do that.... I guess maybe I made a mistake with the pup situation... cause my carpet is ruined upstairs and down...I need a good suggestion that will work, easy to do and not cost a fortune where it will take alot....

"Nature's Miracle" is an enzyme that will neutalize urine odors.
I have heard that from a few people but there is so much of it... and huge spots, many old now and who knows where they all start and end.. its so frustrating....
I have every cleaning machine on the market (somehow I've become obsessed with cleaning gadgets) and here's what I recommend. Get yourself a Bissell Little Green Clean Machine. It'll be a lifesaver for you. It works great especially on new messes. But for old messes (and you could use Nature's Miracle for this too if you didn't have the machine), get the area wet with a little bit of water and the cleaner and put a wet (not soaking) towel over the spot. Let it dry and it draws a lot of the stain out. Keep repeating it as necessary.

Look what my life has become. I'm making cleaning recommendations. Yup, I'm old now but my mom would be so proud...
Nature's Miricale needs to soak in overnite. Soak the carpet and let it sit. It may stink while it is sitting there, but don't worry. Clean it the next day. If the urine went through the carpet into the wood or whatver underneath, that is another story, and the carpet may need to be lifted, floor sanded and re-finished...depending on what is underneath.

Sounds like Sasha needs to have her house-training started all over again, as if she is a puppy. Crate her when not supervised, and go outside with her when she is doing potty, give it a name and give her a treat at the same time. What you will do is make it rewarding for her to go outside, so it will be worth her while.

Do NOT scold her for going inside. You can startle her so her pee is interupted, then put her out to finish and treat, but so not scold or frighten her if you catch her peeing inside or she will still go inside the house but not when you are around. You want her to think, "hey, I need to pee, but whenever I pee outside I get a treat" so she will go out for that treat.

I third Nature's Miracle. The thing I like most about that product too is that it smells like Cinnamon and not that chemical smell that most other deoderizor cleaners have.
If you can rent a heavy duty steam cleaner, and instead of buying the cleaner meant for it, buy color safe alternative bleach. Test an area first, it will fade the carpet a bit, however, it totally removes stains and odors, brightens the carpet, and smells great.
The drawback to wetting your carpet though is that once you do, it will act as a wick and draw stains, moisture and odor back up through the fibers, so you may have to do it again in a month or so.
I agree with Jill. The Little Green Clean machine has worked wonders here. It is also great to have around for everyday use.
I too have the machines (Large and hand held) they are a must in our house....I clean the carpet every weekend.. 8O ....(I have a little one crawling and need to keep the floors as clean as possible).......I agree with the products recommended, however it can become costly...........if money is a matter.........white vinager does an awsome job! I have never had a problem and the vinager takes away the smell of the urine and the stain.....sounds strange but it works........the smell of the vinager lingers for a day or so, but it too nutralizes...........JUST A THOUGHT......(I don't remember who I heard it from but I know it was on TV years and years ago).......it works!
We took out all the carpet in our house since our kids are allergic to it, and it aggravates their eczema BAD. We do have area rugs. I use stuff called Tuff Stuff, and it gets everything out - from red kool-aid to pet stains. I love that stuff, and I wish I had found it when we had carpet throughout the house. It works awesome in the cars too. :)

I have a little green machine, a big green machine, and a Bissel upright deep-cleaner. Out of those, I liked the little green machine the best.
Try my spot cleaning recipie (Now improved)

If it's dry, sprinkle some baking soda on the spot (Arm & Hammer pet smell remover works great!), let stay for a few minutes and then vaccum. In the meantime, get a mix ready of 3 parts Club Soda, 1 Part vinegar on a spray bottle and spray away, pick excess liquid with paper towels and rinse with distilled water. It takes away the smell and the spot is very well washed most of the time.

Danita bought a bottle of dyzolv from dyson and that thing rocks too.
I use a regular carpet cleaner first, letting it sit for about 5 minutes and then scrubbing. After it looks like the stain is gone, I spray with an odor remover (not just a masker) on top of it. Odo-ban has worked wonders for me for completely killing unwanted scents (however this particular spray smells like baby powder while it is drying!) I have also heard wonderful things about the Bissell Little Green Clean Machine. Highly recommended.

You sound so confident it gives me hope. LOL
My two older girls are not reliable even a little bit. They will go outside when I get them out on time, but absolutely no indication of when they need out. They never pee right in front of me so I don't catch them in the act. They are not food motivated, but I do praise like crazy when they go pee outside so I just don't get it.
Have you ever actually successfully housetrained an adult dog? I've done it with rescue dogs, but usually it is a dog who has never been inside and they seem to catch on faster since it is not natural to them to be in the house at all let alone pee in it. LOL
I just wish Dancer and Sky would let me know they need out! They hold it all night, and go outside in the morning, then they hold it all day and go outside when I get home, but in the evenings, when I am right here! they have accidents. No specific time either....
When we moved to Florida Louie's I-need-out-now signal changed so we had many accidents. Now that I've relearned his signals we have very few problems (all of them mine  -when he has to go he means it!)

As to cleaning my carpet I use the Arm and Hammer Pet Carpet sprinkle stuff to vaccum (cause I like the way it smells). And I have an upright Bissal for the other stains. I've used Nature's Miracle and didn't like it :( so I use some other stuff...which I can't recall right now so I'll post later, but it's worked great.
Stacey that sounds like Sasha.. we had her trained in the day could leave her for 4-6 hours and have to keep on top of her in the evening and kennel her at night or she does fine in the bedroom...but lately , perhaps due to the pup running around making mistakes she has decided she will go when and wherever.. anytime of day.. she is acting like a puppy in many ways.. she is jealous and mimics the pup...she also does not tell us she has to go at night and so if it comes before we have put her out... she will sneak off and do it.. we never catch her in the act so can't do much about it.. its frustrating..I am not trying any suggestions till the pup is gone and we can kennel her day and night and work on the training again... I am hoping with the pup gone she may start to settle down and stop the puppy business haha perhaps not she is only 2 herself....thanks for all the suggestions guys....
Watch real close and be very quiet or you'll miss it. This is Clyde's signal.

8O

Which is why we have a dog door.
I still wouldn't call Barney 100% reliable in this department, either. He is fine at night...fine during the day (and both those are 8+ hour stretches), but in the evenings I don't know if it's because he's more active or what, but if I don't ask him every once in a while, he'll just go. Anywhere. Although I was so proud last night. He came up to me, gave me the look, backed up, came back until I got the point.

I like Nature's Miracle for cleaning the carpet...it seems to work pretty well for us...
