I'm often fond of stories "truth is stranger than fiction" ones, especially. I have been spending huge amounts of time in the woods and 2 different parks this weekend, going back to work Monday so I wanted to spend time with the furballs. I've been to so many places, hiking deep in the woods with all three and so on. On my return home I stop at the gas station to fill up my tires and at the last min decide I'll buy myself a coffee. (No wallet in the knapsack/dog bag which I've been using all weekend.) I get that horrible sinking feeling as to where in the past two days I could have lost it. I last purchased something on Friday and it could be at a number of places, including those woods. I just want to cry. I arrive home, open my front door and a tiny note flutters down. I pick it up...it says I have your wallet - please call me. I call and a very cheerful Irish voice answers, and says "yes my wife and I stopped by your place several times to return it but you weren't home." Here's our address. (Unbelievably they live 1 block away from me!) I was greeted by Maureen and Patrick a very charming elderly Irish couple whom found my wallet. How fortunate I was that - Patrick spied it while driving and stopped!! It was on the sidewalk (miles from my house) and I can only guess it must have slipped out while I was loading the three dogs in my van. I think perhaps the Luck of the Irish carried over to me and those Irish folks sure made my day! How heartwarming too to meet some nice and honest people too! I am so grateful! Marianne |
