Puppy Cut - Need Help

We take Lucky to the groomer every Friday for a bath and brushing. I asked her to give him a puppy cut but she doesn't know how to do it. Does anyone have any articles or instructions on how to give a sheepie a puppy cut??? If so can you contact me through the forum, either by PM or by email?

Thanks so much!

I wish I could help you with this, but I've never gotten a puppy cut for one of my wigglebums.

I think they just use scissors and cut them down to about 2" all over. :?
If the dog is already in nearly or full coat, can you use clippers to get them down to 2 inches or would that just be ridiculous to take on?
The groomer I spoke to at PetsMart when I was buying clippers told me you'd have to use scissors to leave that much hair. She said clippers were only good up to (or down to) about 1 1/4" and that is using a guard or comb thingy. :?
My experience using the guard has been poor. Clyde had been peeing on his belly so I was going to take off a little hair with the clippers. Well, I ended up just shaving his belly bald because I couldn't seem to make any headway with the stupid comb thing! It's so soft all shaved to the skin like that though. His hair's long enough on top that you can't tell. I think...
I would ask another groomer. I had been going to one for some time, and she also said a puppy cut was not possible for one of my Sheepies because his hair was too thick, and she always shaved him :( , but I recently switched and my new groomer says a puppy cut for him would not be a problem......so we will be headed there in amonth or so for both dogs to get a cut for the warm weather coming.
AVOID THE PUPPY CUT LIKE THE PLAGUE.

I JUST PAYED PETSMART 90$ FOR A PUPPY CUT ( THEY ALSO SAID ONLY SCISSORS ARE USED FOR A PUPPY CUT ALL OVER).
I DON'T KNOW WHO IS MORE EMBARASSED  ME OR BROOKLYN.
TWO DAYS LATTER YOU COULD SEE ALL THE CHOP MARKS . SHE IS A MESS.

THATS HOW I FOUND THE FORUM,LOOKING FOR SOME PIX ON WHAT I CAN DO TO FIX HER BACK UP.
I GOT SOME GREAT ADVICE FROM PEPSI'S MOM.( AND FOUND ALL THE GREAT PIX POSTED TOO :D )

I FOUND THAT A GOOD SET OF CLIPPERS AND SOME PRACTICE IS THE BEST!

JUST HAVE LUCKY CLIPPERD DOWN, THE HAIR WILL GROW BACK VERY FAST AND EVEN! ( THATS THE GREAT ADVICE I GOT FROM PEPSI'S MOM) :D
My parents' sheepie Maggie has had great success for the most part when we've specified puppy cuts. Every once in a while she's turned out looking like a poodle, but mostly she come out fluffy and cute!
I think it just depends on the groomer you go to. If you don't like them, don't go back and then look for someone new.

Bandaa, do you have thinning shears? You can always use those to blend in the chop marks. A good groomer should've blended well and not left all the blunt edges but sometimes stuff just settles differently too. The nice thing with thinning shears is that it's very hard to make a mistake so you couldn't mess her up more!
Electric Clippers aren't really going to give your dog a "puppy cut" because it will cut the hair to short. You/they can try a plastic comb guide, but if it is a thick coat it won't cut through it. Really scissors are the only way to leave 2+ inches on your dog.
