Then, a few other dogs arrived. Copper had the best time playing with all of the boys. Hannah had fun playing with Copper when we first got there. She is more interested in the people and guarding her spot as my only daughter. She basically doesn't want to leave my side. I have to constantly walk away from her. Charlie was such a cutie and so exuberant. He weighed 85lbs but looked much larger because of his full coat. It was so much fun to watch them play. |

How exciting! |
Hi,
Isn't funny how we live with Sheepies but get so excited when we see others!!! It's like a sisterhood or would that be brotherhood? Immediately we start chatting with the uprights ..as we know they are good people! Am I right? It's happened to me twice at dog parks...OH another sheepie!! I loved reading your post..just made me smile. Marianne and the boys |
Marianne, you read my mind.
Even for a sheepie owner, it is a rare sighting to see another one. Do owners of other breeds get as excited as we do when they see their breed? |
Don't you hate when you don't have your camera with ya!!! How exciting! |
That's pretty cool, I always wonder if dogs recognize their own breed. I was at a gas station last summer (100 miles from my house) and I look over and see a sheepie that looked just like my Luke. Of course I had to talk to the woman in the car, turns out she had 2 and they were from my breeder. Her boy was related to Luke and Beau, it was eerie how much they looked alike. |
That's so cool
My older brother saw another OES in town and when he told me about it I of course asked if he stopped to talk to the person. He did, and had mentioned that I have oes as well. I asked him if he asked where they got their dog and he said no, so I just looked at him stunned. LOL "What do you mean you didn't ask?!" LOL I found out where they got him anyway, but I wish I could run into them myself. LOL |
Hi All
Last summer up in the Mts of north Georgia, we were sitting on the dock on Lake Burton relaxing A boat pulls up & this wonderful lady visits with Beebles & tells us all about her sheepie...it was so much fun! I hope she returns to visit this summer & brings her sheepie for a dock visit! It is so rare to see sheepies here in Georgia & I get very excited too when I get a glimpse of one passing...just want to turn around & track them down! Diane...could be a form of stalking |

I know how you feel... We want to run and meet the owners of sheepies we see around here too! |
I'm always looking! Other than the people from the forum in Michigan, I have only seen one other OES by me and it was at the groomer. He had just been shaved and was ridiculously tiny. One time at the dog park, this guy was looking at Clyde and said, "Wow, he's one of the prettiest OES I've ever seen." It was a nice compliment but I wanted to know where the heck he was seeing these other sheepdogs! |
there are two other sheepies at our dog park... one is always kept full coated and not terribly nice to other dogs, the other is pretty dominant and kept puppy clipped... they always hang out together. They have knocked quite a few people over galloping around after each other.
The full coated one, the owners got because, and this is straight from the dog trainer's mouth (my dog trainer too), "they wanted to be seen walking an old english sheepdog in the park." What idiots. The dog park is in a ritzy area though, so you get people like that, and a lot of the rarer fancy schmancy dog breeds, like briards, bouviers, etc. |
