J-MAC Meets the President
Just wanted to share. I live 20 miles from Rochester.. I was so glad he got to meet Mr Bush. What a thrill for J-Mac. Deana Last Update: 3/14/2006 12:49:19 PM Rochester, NY -- Air Force One arrived ahead of schedule at the Greater Rochester International Airport around 10:42 a.m. President George W. Bush was the first to come down the stairs waving amid the wind and snowflakes. Standing in the cold beside the various dignitaries was Jason McElwain of Greece, his parents, and basketball coach. After speaking to J-Mac, Bush took the young man's arm and they strode with McElwain's mother to the microphone. 13WHAM's Doug Emblidge reported that part of their conversation went something like this: President Bush: "I am very honored to meet you Jason, can I call you J-Mac?" J-Mac: "Yes, sir." President Bush: "You can call me George W." Bush told the media gathered that J-Mac was an inspiration to him and to the entire country. One of the reporters asked if Bush had just caught the story or if someone brought it to him. Bush said someone brought it to him, but that he wept when he saw it. J-Mac, who has a mild form of autism, is the manager of his high school basketball team. On the senior night game, his couch allowed him to play and J-Mac went on to score 20 points, including six 3-pointers, in about four minutes of play. |

(little side tidbit: I ...and my co-workers made the safety video for Air Force one that the President watches when he boards the plane). I kinda... sort of... well.. we took a few matches and m&m's which have the presidents logo on them. I also couldn't help myself and used the bathroom while we were on the plane. My butt touched his. j/k (this was actually when clinton was in office) |

ElGato, that's what my relatives always say. We took like 10 packs. They didn't say we could have them, but they looked like they were out for whoever gets on the plane. ...and well.. Now the matches... I just thought they looked cool. My boss (a Colonol) took them, so I figured he would be the one who got in trouble. I bet they would sell big on Ebay. I never knew they get their own Presidential logo on candy and stuff. I looked in his fridge too, but I wasn't allowed alcohol during duty hours.
Anyway, just thought I'd share since it's not every day someone mentions the Air Force One. I just happened to be lucky in the military and did many crazy things such as mic. the V-President, etc.. |
