What a nice dog life Dougal is having so far.
It seems as though Western Europe is really great about letting dogs go just about anywhere. In the US it is rare that you find a restaurant that would a dog come in. A lot of outdoor cafes in Philadelphia you can have them with you but the only reason is because the tables are out on the street sidewalk. |
In Holland we went into this dark restaurant and almost tripped on this huge St. Benard type dog. He looked at us like. " Stupid tourist!". and went back to sleep. My girls wanted to pet him, but I made them eat first. By then the owner had figured out where we were from and invited us to pet the dog. My husband was so shocKed by the whole thing! The girls always wanted to eat there and always looked for the dog. Seems they went there every Sunday.
The US is becoming more pet friendly. We found several hotels on I-10 willing to allow your pet (for a small additional fee). But not like in Holland. When we moved out we had to stay in a hotel for a week with our dog and it was no big deal. Although you had to scoop the poop or do it in the gutter. |
