Crumbled Blue Cheese Sour Cream Mayo White or Black Pepper Garlic Powder Worcestershire I usually buy the 4 oz packages of crumbled Blue Cheese which measures out to about 3/4 cup Use equal parts, Sour Cream, Blue Cheese and Mayo Mix well. For seasoning I like to use White Pepper....it mixes better. I was told use garlic powder, white pepper and Worcestersire Sauce to taste. I use about 1 1/2 Tbs of Worchestershire About a teaspoon of pepper And the garlic powder. I probably use a teaspsoon maybe more. After you mix it together put it in the fridge. When you take it out of the fridge mix well then serve. NOTE: The garlic flavor will intensify while being refrigerated. I usually add some...refrigerate it, then taste it to see if it needs more. Enjoy |

Sounds yummy--can't wait to try it. |
That sounds good! My husband loves blue cheese dressing! |
Yum, my favorite Although usually I'm lazy and just add the blue cheese to the salad |
I liked Blue Cheese Dressing, but would never eat it with a spoon.
When I tried this recipe... which is from My ex-boyfriend's Mom... I literally got a spoon and ate a few spoonfuls... It is so good. Remember to adjust seasonings to your own taste. I do enjoy the way I make it. Hubby likes more pepper. This recipe is sooo good for dipping hot wings...well just about anything for that matter. NOTE: My Dad stated to me that he hated Blue Cheese....tried the dressing and ate almost the entire bowl. |
Sounds delicious! Do you think you could use minced garlic instead of the powder? |
Garlic powder blends in better in this type of thing than minced garlic would...you'd have some chunks...but if you only have the real stuff, I don't see why you couldn't use it. I think also, it is like herbs, fresh versus dried, that you have to play around with the amount so you don't overpower it. |
I agree with Steph. The garlic powder will provide a more uniform taste.
I am not sure how fresh garlic would taste in it. It might be too overpowering. I prefer cooking with fresh garlic but since this dip in not cooked I am not sure how that would be. |
Okay - I'll get some powder. I ran out and haven't replaced it yet. This is a good reason to do so. |
Elissa made this for us last weekend and it was delicious! Thanks for the recipe! By the way, the Costco near us now sells hunks of blue cheese WAY cheaper than buying the crumbles in the grocery store. So if you're having a party and want to whip up a bunch, head for Costco! |
Thanks Sue and thanks for the tip about Costco. I'll have to check it out.
Billy had me make more last night. I think I use closer to 2 teaspoons of garlic powder...maybe even three??? I usually just shake and taste...lol |
How long does it keep in fridge? thanks, sue |
I'd say about a week if in a closed container. |
