However, she hasn't peed yet this morning and I'm not sure what word was used before to tell her to go pee. I stood out there in the pouring rain trying a few, and she doesn't seem to mind the rain itself, she just doesn't want to pee. LOL It's a thick layer of slippery ice out there because the rain has melted down a lot of the snow, so maybe that'swhat she doesn't like.... I hate to see raindrops hit that pretty coat too. LOL Dancer is the queen of "won't pee in the rain" Sky doesn't seem to care a whole lot... I need to get some dog boots for them.... I wanted to get mutt-luks, but holy cow are they ever expensive! Anyone find a cheaper brand that is still durable and easy to put on? |
|
Stacey, maybe try E-bay for used Mutt Luks. At Christmas I bought Barney a pair of red boots, but they were too small, but I (in my excitement) had ripped off all the tags, etc. I probably could have returned them, but I didn't even try, so I'm sure there are some boots out there like that, with only half a paw of use!
Also, we just got some that actually fit and they were on sale at PetSmart for only $12, so maybe you could find a sale. |
I am boarding a golden retreiver who wants company to pee. It is miserable out, but he loves it and delays the widdle until the last minute.
Try walking her around or even put her on a LOOOOOOOOOONG leash, as she may not be used to having an audience. And just like rescues when thay are re-homed, sometimes it takes a long time to show up. A day or 2 even Funny how we get all involved in the bowel movements and urinary tracks of our dogs and everyone elses |
I've tried the cheaper brands of boots and none of them are as durable as the muttluks. It's money well spent.
I also have a rain coat for Flower, which of course she hates, but spending 10 mins struggling to get it on her is better than 30 mins drying her afterwards! Between her booties and raincoat she walks around real slow with her head hanging low as if to say, "but mom, all the other kids are going to make fun of me..." |
Tasker is the same way, he HATES rain. I've had to physically PUSH him out the door on rainy mornings. Once, on a rainy Saterday, I decided to wait him out and see how long he would actually "hold it"............ I BROKE FIRST, after 18 hours I MADE HIM GO OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I'm surprised to hear of a boy doing this. It usually seems to be more of a girl thing. Rebecca hates the rain and has gone 18 hours holding it as well. And I've tried the boots and no luck. |
Tasker is kinda a sissy |

Bogart says Tasker is a gentleman. On a gentleman's farm, sheepdogs prefer not to get their feet wet. This sheep herding job is just hearsay |

Ditto my girls are the same, hate wet feet, hold on all day when it is raining, have to force them out to twinkle, they will however go out with there boots on on there own. Mmmm maybe it is the farm dog coming out in them, you never see a farmer without his boots on too. |
Lisa, I think it's more of a girly love of shoes, than their farm nature coming out! |

Do you think they have a gender identity crisis??????? |
I think Toby has been watching too many big-hair band biographies on tv...he doesn't know they're from the 80s... |
Maybe I need to change his name to Rikki or maybe C.C. |
Yeah, go for C.C--we have the same birthday! |
Every dog I have ever owned has not liked to go pee in the rain.....but for some reason if I let them in th front yard instead of the back they will go there.... Very strange!! |
Where I got Remy's rain jacket...great place to shop, went very smoothly and quick.

Mmmm the Ol shoe fetish of girls, well that explains everything, now I wonder if they make Gucci hot pink boots for sheepie girls
Rock on Toby |
Daisy loves the rain, snow or whatever. If there is a mud puddle or stream of water she is sure to be in it. Trying to tell her that she should go quickly so I can get out of the rain doesn't help at all.
Sometimes wish she didn't like it so much, but then again I don't melt and the exercise is good for me. |
