I always think of laser treatment like zapping something away, or burning skin or whatever. If laser are used for this, then is it like acupuncture? Certain areas of the body are "zapped" to stimulate something? Has anyone heard of this, and how it works? |

I have done it, 4 friends did it and my sister did it. A cold laser is used (so there is no burning) to stimulate the acupunture points that release endorphins that override the physical withdrawal pangs. Whew.
Was it successful? For me, yes and no. Yes in that indeed I had no physical withdrawal problems. The smell of smoke made me ill. I was smoke-free for 2 months then my mind went goofy and I started thinking of smoking and fell off the wagon. I went back for a re-zapping last week. Wasn't as powerful as the first time. My sister hasn't gone back to smoking, one friend has been smoke free for 6 months and the other 3 smoked the day after the treatment. The laser people said the treatment doesn't work on the mental aspect of quitting and they are right. Unfortunately there is no miracle cure. It's a combination of your mind set and sometimes sheer willpower. For me, this will be a lifelong struggle. |
