Coming home to doggies

This has been a tough week for me at work. Just a lot of nasty challenges to face, and lots of fires to put out (figuratively...I"m not a fireman!).

Driving home tonight I was thinking how great it will be to get home and have Pirate and Keira waiting for me. The chaos that would take place as soon as they were liberated from their crates.

And...I got really excited to see them.

I wonder how dull and sad it would be to come home to a "quiet" house. What would I do? Turn on the tv? Walk around the empty house until my husband got home?

And it hit me (as it does from time to time) how wonderful it is to have these loving creatures living with me.

I wonder if any of you have these thoughts? If sometimes, out of the blue, it pops in your head how very much our dogs fill our lives with love and devotion.

I'm grateful. And to prove it, we've (as we do everyday) played ball. But today we played extra long!

Thanks for loving me, Pirate and Keira...I love you two just as much!

Awww that's really sweet. Coming home to an empty house would be so depressing!
I think the same thing all the time! James and I work together and sometimes, if he's having a particularly trying day, he'll call me up and say, "Boy, I can wait to get home and squish the dogs." They're the perfect stress melter. I find myself talking about them so much during the day, I really do miss them. My favorite day is Wednesday because they're at doggy day care which is only about 5 blocks from where we work. They're so happy to see us and seeing them that happy makes me happy. :)
Arriving to an empty house is horribly depressing. Every time Lennon and Sofa are at the groomers we want to cry when we arrive home and there's no furballs to knock you down with wet kisses and lots of exitement.

I love the dialy arrival ritual when we open the door and let them out to run on the park. All you see is two gray streaks bolt out the door, take a loop around the park at top speed barking like crazy and then greet us after their initial run.
Happiness is coming home to a big slobbery kiss from a 95 lb ball of fur
How sad it would be to live in a world with no dogs to greet you :( All the barking and crazy greetings they provide means more to me than I ever could have realized. And they don't care if you had a bad day, they just are thrilled you're home :)

Squishing... I love that!!!! Perfect!
When we take them to the groomers and come home to an empty house it is MISERABLE. You catch yourself calling their name and really realize how great it is that they are always there.
Our Loki passed away a few weeks ago and I was doing OK until I came home one afternoon and she was not there to greet me. I sobbed with the realiation that she would not be there with her sweet smile and tail wagging anymore and felt such deep sadness.

Today I am filled with excitement and anticipation to add one of the rescue puppies to our family. I cannot wait until I have a little wigglebutt racing to see me and the kids when we get home from school each day :D

Hug those woogies extra close today
I now work my so called ''social'' life around Panda...If I think Im going to be home too late..I dont go...for example, tonight I have to go to a wedding and Brian is working...there is an hour lag time between Mass and the reception...guess what Im doing? Going home to spend a few minutes with my baby....I just cant imagine my life without her...Everyone at work is sick of me talking about her....all day long, every day.....

I understand and feel the same as everyone else!
Not a day goes by that I don't get excited to come home to Annie and her wiggling big butt. When we go out or go out of town, I miss her and want to come home. I know that I'll come home and be in a good mood no matter what happens. Annie and I have snuggle time every day after she eats dinner. We snugle, I make dinner, and then we wait for Dad. I know what it's like not to have a dog for a time. I think maybe that's why I fell into a depression once...my life without a loving dog feels quite meaningless to me. I want a puppy now so I won't ever be without a sheepie. :D
I am not the first one home, so I get the third level of greeting.. :(
My son gets the big excitement, as he lets them out of the crates, plays a bit then puts them outside.
Hubby then comes home and lets them in, and gives them hugs and treats.
Then when I get home it is a bit hom-hum, except that I feed them so they are excited to be fed.
As for revolving around the dog's schedules, our social life is gradually becoming the dog park :D We plan our free time around the weather, because warm weather means mud, so no park. So a trip to Petsmart, or Super pet with the pooches is a nice outing, instead.
But below freezing means an hour and a half set aside for the doggy social, ...standing around in our "dog park clothes" with a hot coffee to keep us warm....
Life doesn't get better than snuggling up to a couple of warm sheepie bodies on a cold day. Come to think of it...snuggling up to them anytime is just getting unconditional love from them. Yup...I agree...a house isn't a home without a sheepie!

Marianne and the boys
Mine greet me at the front gate. Most come up for a hug and kiss and then step back so I can drive in and shut the gate. Thankfully they don't dash out as I'm driving in. Training, training. I enter the house in mass with the kids. Six dogs all want their pets and kisses........and maybe a cookie too. However, my first need is the bathroom.......so it's "MOVE!" from me. Most have to come up to me in the bathroom for a pet.........I can't believe I'm typing this..........
What a fun thread!

I have to agree completely! I often find myself missing them during the day and cannot wait to get home and hug & kiss my babies. The fact that they're over joyed to see me makes my day -every time!! :D
