They can both be sleeping but the second they hear someone using the bathroom... you hear their paws race downstairs to be in the bathroom with me. No clue why. They don't always race upstairs when they hear me filling up their water bowl, so that can't be it. Then they leave the second the toilet flushes.. Weird. Anyone elses dog? |
|
Barney just likes to follow us. He could be totally occupied on the floor with toys, or sleeping, but the second we get up he has to get up too, even if we just get up to grab something in the same room... |
Both of mine do it tooLOL. But when we had fergie she would insist on coming in and sit and look at you... Never new why |
Izzie will follow us and get upset if you close the door while she is outside. She gets upset and whines and barks. If the door is closed, but cracked she still gets upset because she can't get in. The door has to be open enough for her entire body without touching to fit through before she will enter a room...no pushing it open with her nose. She is a bit of a weirdo sometimes.
Amanda |
Yep, kids are the same way too. I can't leave the room without one of the boys following me... "Mom, where are you? What are you doing?" I miss privacy. LOL |
Yuki follows me around when Daddy is at work, but a lot of times she sits by the door even though she knows I'm downstairs. There's just something about the sound of me going that wakes her up. I mean... she RACES to the bathroom to do what? ...to just lay on my feet. EVERY time.
I'm like "Hello... I'm getting up now. Haven't you learned these pit stops are only 60 seconds long? No time to be laying on my dang feet" |
Okay Panda seems to be one step worse so far....she HAS to be in there, but when Im done, she has to check out what is in the bowl I have learned to flush while still sitting.....eww gross, just cant understand the fasination.... |
LOL. Annie does this 9 out of 10 times so I decided to make use of the level she's at. I pick her eye boogers & then flush them down the toilet. I don't particularly like when she comes in after just drinking some water. IT'S SO COLD!!!
|

You crack me up. You are so practical!! |
Good time management! |
You guys are all to FUNNY!!!!!! |
That's funny, Stacy! I do that too! Why not? The toilet paper is right there and they're sitting there in front of me - perfect timing! |
Ew, people...y'all are grossing me out! |
havent tried picking boogies there..thats a good idea....usually do it outside...... |
If I am using the bathroom the dogs will follow me in there to see what I am doing So much for privacy.
In the evening after I put the kids to bed I take a bath. Pepsi has to be in there with me or he will bark, whine, scratch at the door...etc. He doesn't bother me just has to be with Mommy. He lies down in front of the door to block a draft Rags doesn't insist on coming in too.... Thank goodness. She sits outside of the bathroom in front on the door also lying against it. Awww Love I guess she wants to be near Pepsi. |
Elissa, has there been anything negative about Rags this whole time you've had her? It sounds like she fit right in with no bumps along the way... |
One negative...... She HATES Peanut and has tried to eat him on numerous occassions. I now have to feed Peanut his food on the tray for Hayley's highchair because Rags will not let him near his food bowls.
He refuses to give up the Alpha Position to her. So the new phrase in the house is....."Rags!!! Drop the Poodle!!!" LMAO And she does. Peanut usually starts the trouble too. He is such an angry evil little dog ... lol |
That is so funny. At least she drops the poodle!
So interesting to see how she fit in and how much she loves pepsi and hates peanut! |
You're all lucky with your sheepdogs following you into the bathroom, Watson refuses to go into the bathroom. Even when following a trail of treats.
And he needs a bath. |
Not only does Daisy insist on following me into the bathroom, but Mork (the cat) has to be there as well. Mork and his sister Mindy both started doing this when they were kittens (3 yrs ago) and he usually beats Daisy into the bathroom but if not will just walk under her to get in front.
Never have figured out the fascination |
Don't know...my sheepie does it but never the huskie. Sheepie will follow me EVERYWHERE and usually lays outside the shower until I get out. I take advantage and brush him while I'm blow-drying my hair (might as well, I've got the brush in my hand and he's always laying right there) |
The ladies haven't followed me into the bathroom yet - but apparently when you say "bath time" to Mopsey, she will run towards the tub! |
Ha Ha Ha, I have no privacy at all with sheepie girls. Toilet, shower etc, there in there, I do say to them OK your bath time now then they head for the hills LOL then I can have some privacy, works everytime and the bathroom is free of sheepies. |
When it's just me and Blue home alone during the day, he would love to follow me into the bathroom but it gives me the creeps to have him watching me, so I shut the door. He cries the whole time, but oh well. It won't kill him. He also cries if either one of us goes in to take a shower. Sometimes we let him in and he'll peek around the shower curtain as if to make sure we're okay. I think he's amazed we willingly get into the "torture chamber" day after day. It worries him. LOL |
You people have just taken dog lover to a whole new level. |
My dogs pretty much follow me everywhere in the house all the time. When I go to the bathroom, I usually shut the door most of the way and they push it open. They have the biggest smiles like "are you proud of me, I opened the door". I LOVE my velcro doggies. Wouldn't have it any other way. It makes me feel so loved. |
einy has learnt that we like to got to toilet alone so he just lays the other side of the door but if you haven't closed to door all the way then he joins you.
he thinkd thast the shower is evil and we need protecting from it so he barks when you turn it on but if you are in there he will stick his head in and have a quick drink and the bath, well the bath is a giant water bowl isn't it even if your human is in there what do you mean i can't lick you while your wet !!!! in our house you have to cover yourself with towel head to foot and run to the bed room or einy tries to lick the water off of you.. he doesn't understand that dog drool is not cleaner that just out of the shower freshness as for thwe toilet we have to keep the lid down coz if he needs a drink in the night hes to lazy to go down stair and just drinks out of the toilet my dog has some strange habbits he won't drink out of his water bowl the fish pond is is preffered drinking spot |
My Bellla has to be with me too. She just likes to be in the same room as I am. She is just very attatched. |
ok, I thought this was a Max thing. I guess not. If I close the door he will actually throw his rather large body aqainst it until he pops the door open, and he always brings a toy to drop into my lap as if to say "mamma, you're just sitting there, can't you play with me for a while?"
Also I have to leave the shower door open just far enough for him to get his nose in, who knows why? |
Aterovi wrote: When it's just me and Blue home alone during the day, he would love to follow me into the bathroom but it gives me the creeps to have him watching me, so I shut the door.
LOL. Steve says the same thing. |
I think they are fascinated by the whole concept of FLUSHING WASTE DOWN THE TOILET!!!!!!!!! I believe they secretly wish they could hop up and use the toilet themselves!!! Ty is pad trained and as soon as he soils the pad I change it, but if he just poos I scoop it up with a tissue and flush it, he'll often follow me to the bathroom and watch. Last month when I had my surgery and spend a couple days "down and out" he decided to "help me out" by pooping RIGHT NEXT TO THE TOILET!!!!!!!!!!! I honestly think he thought he was doing a "good thing", as soon as I was up and around again he went back to his pad. |
I never have allowed my dogs in with me. I don't want to give them any ideas.
I always thought that this would be training them to use the "indoor bathroom" by way of example, the same way that people hope an older dog trains a puppy to use the "outdoor bathroom". So, no thanks! |
Ron, I'm glad you said that! I thought I was all alone! I don't let Barns in there with me, and only the cats when they run in before I can stop them and am too lazy to kick them out. I also feel like it could lead to some sort of ideas that they can do business in there too, so the bathroom is a no pet zone! The door right outside, however, is the cool place to wait... |
The only time Clyde stays in there with me is if I get up during the night. He sleeps in the bathroom in front of the toilet. I never move him because he takes forever to get comfortable again, which entails him kneading (scratching) the tile floor for about 5 minutes. Since I'm a horrible sleeper, the noise will keep me up and, consequently, from falling back asleep. It's really me barging in on him so I guess if anyone should be annoyed by that behavior, it should be him being annoyed with me for waking him up!
Nope, he's not spoiled...Not at all... |
Milo constantly has his nose up my rear. Wether I go to the bathroom, or get up to go get a drink, any time I leave he is right behind me. If I dare stop short, its a frightening surprise for the both of us. |
Aterovi wrote: Sometimes we let him in and he'll peek around the shower curtain as if to make sure we're okay. I think he's amazed we willingly get into the "torture chamber" day after day. It worries him. LOL
LOL Ben follows me everywhere! Add him to the kids who folllow me and the Hubby and Ki who has to see what all the excitement is and we have a parade to the bathroom......I hear "snorts" coming from under the door from the dogs trying to smell me from the other side and the kids "Mom, what are you doing?" and the Husband, "Yeah Mom, what are you doin'?"! Never a minutes peace! The cats only follow me into the bathroom in the morning! |

Me too, and check her ears. Remy's funny tho, it's only me she follows. Now I have hubby trained to get me something, caus eif I move then the dogs are up and it's bouncing chaos. So to avoid it all and they stay put, he gets the popcorn etc. The cats love when I go have a bath, they love to sit on the edge. Our cat Jake only drinks water from the tap, so every time we use the bathroom he needs a drink of water. |
So happy to see other dogs feel we need help or company in the bathroom. I can count on at least two joining me, sometimes four or five. Things get a big difficult with five trying to come in for a pet. I just pet and turn them around and push them towards the door while another comes in, Head em up, Move em out..........
Fortuantely, they have no interest in the shower so I can have the bathroom to myself if I turn on the shower. We too have had to keep the lids down, the floor was just constantly wet, to say nothing of the seat. We too had one who would sleep in front or curl around the toilet, making midnight visits difficult........she wouldn't move. Alas, she is too old now and prefers to sleep snuggled against my husband on the bed........hmmm. We'll see if she returns to her old trick when summer's heat arrived. I suspect she's too stiff to get out of tight areas. |
SheepieBoss wrote: So happy to see other dogs feel we need help or company in the bathroom. Maybe THAT'S IT!
Maybe they feel that WE accompany THEM whenever THEY go, so they are just returning the favor! |
Ron wrote: SheepieBoss wrote: So happy to see other dogs feel we need help or company in the bathroom. Maybe THAT'S IT!Maybe they feel that WE accompany THEM whenever THEY go, so they are just returning the favor! By GEORGE, I think you've solved the riddle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Love this thread! Oscar is like Annie and Einy. He gets a drink when I'm "indisposed" and likes nothing better than coming in and putting his freezing cold, wet beard on my legs. BRRRRR! And he also likes to watch the water swirling down the toilet....how odd is that?
The shower involves lots of fun. Once I close myself in the shower, Oscar likes to lay directly on the door. Sometimes he falls asleep, and I'm stuck in there, as his full weight is on the door! Being deaf, he doesn't hear me swearing my head off!!!!! When he finally does get up and move, I have to grab the towel and run, drying myself off, as he and Einy share the habit of trying to lick off the excess water. Then when I put lotion on my legs, forget it! I have to quickly put on pants, or he goes into a trance while he completely removes all of the lotion. YUK! I certainly don't mind sheepie kisses, but that constant licking gets a little creepy. These dogs are characters! |
Ron wrote: SheepieBoss wrote: So happy to see other dogs feel we need help or company in the bathroom. Maybe THAT'S IT!Maybe they feel that WE accompany THEM whenever THEY go, so they are just returning the favor! LMAO, that is hilarious.... |
Ha Ha Ha now we know why!! Just returning the favour |
oh yes, my babies do it too. If I don't let Merlin he will push the door open with his nose VERY forcefully, if only just to stare from the hallway. Sadly, our bathroom door doesn't latch so if I don't let him in, I could be on display for anyone who walks by if he pushes the door open. Most the time when they both go in with me they will both jump into the bath tub and try to drink from the faucet. At any rate, I think it's sweet that they have to be with us at ALL times, no matter what. |
Oh yes. Lucy follows me to the bathroom Always! When we have a foster dog they follow also. Upstairs it is fine but downstairs I only have a half bath and the door won't even close with the three of us in there. It gest very tight! Have to love the company?!!!
alison, lucy, thumper and gage! |

HAHAHAHA Darcy you made my day! i could not get it out of my mind, and sorry Darcy I had to ask Arnfinn make me a sketch of it. He has started wondring about wath we are discuss on this forum. I let Panda have a little more coat. |
Oh! We must really be careful about what we discuss. It might become a cartoon!
sheepieboss |
Wow, that looks just like Darcy on the toilet... |
LMAO... I can't wait for Darcy to see it...
How cool is that... Darcy as a cartoon I don't know what her reaction will be now that we can all picture it |
Ha Ha Ha that is absolutely brilliant, darcy you are going to have to copy that cartoon and blow it up and frame it for your bathroom
Ha Ha Ha now we know what goes on in darcys bathroom |
Blitzen always followed me into the bathroom, I used to do here hair, that “bath time” is one of the tings I miss most, so I definitely will allow the new pup in the bathroom whit me. |
That's priceless!! |
Oh, that is so great! I can't wait for Darcy to see it! Your husband is so clever! |
This is absolutely hilarious. Mortifying, but hilarious. |
Okay, I am crying, I am laughing so hard.....I MUST copy and paste....your husband did a fantastic job...um, maybe a bit too realistic....lol...I just cant stop laughing.....kisses to you Tove and your wickedly bad sense of humor! |
Oh and I just realized....I got my 15 minutes of fame....NOT the way I was hoping, but now Im immortalized forever...on the potty....groan... |
I was going to say it could be worse but, well, it really couldn't. |
LMAO... It could be worse Darcy....not much, but it could be. |
Your sister gets to meet Simon LeBon, you get your picture drawn on the toilet. What did you do in a previous life to mess up your karma? |
****shakes head*****
I have no idea! |
I'm with Darcy here - ollie comes in, well I let him now. But I have to get the lid down quick before I flush or his head will be straight down there - yes I know .....gross |
Tove, I LOVE that cartoon!!! I also pick eye boogers when I'm on the toilet but wasn't sure how far I should take it when I first made this thread. |
LMAO,. Glad everyone thinks it's you, Darce, and not me (considering I was the first one to say I pick Annie's eye boogies while I'm on the toilet). HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
I know Stacy, I havent forgetten it either....Your turn WILL come.... |
