OMG, poor HANK!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish he was on this coast, I'd get him in a heart beat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE keep us posted. |
Has anyone heard what happened to Hank.......Kaye |
So the scoop on Hank is that he is in Taiwan at the moment in a rescue there. I have an appointment this evening with the director of the rescue on this side of the world. She is coming to check out our place and see if we are approved to get him. We will start out as a foster home and then adopt him if all goes well, if it doesnt go well he will remain in foster with us either way till he finds a furever home but I honestly believe I will adopt him. If we get approved by this lady, he will fly over to us on the 10th and we will pick him up at the airport that day. He aparently loves people and other dogs but is really lonely at the moment. I will give you guys another update after the visit from her. Wish us luck!! |
I am crossing my fingers that it works out for you and Hank!!! Best of luck!! |
That is great news. I was going crazy trying to find someone to fster him....We'll be in California in May...... Let me know if I can help. I have some Puppy Parents out in tha area....... Sheepie HUgs, Kaye Second Chance OEs Rescue www.Secondchanceoesrescue.com |
YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is just wonderful news!!!!!!!!!!!! Just think a bilinguial dog, will he have to go to "English as a Second Language" classes at night I'm so happy for you and for Hank.
KEEP US POSTED |
That's terrific!
Please keep us posted on... well... EVERYTHING! The home visit, the transport, the first meeting, etc. Did they mention if there was a quarantine process? Good luck! |
This is wonderful! I was shocked when I read he was in Taiwon. I hope every thing works out. Keep us posted |
So the home visit went very well. I will know in a few days whether or not we are acceptable foster parents..... If so, I will be taking Hank on as a foster for 1 month. In that time anyone is welcome to come take a look at him for adoption. After the one month we decide whether to adopt him ourselves or to just keep fostering him. We might decide earlier if we want to or not but I wanted to give Hank enough time to adjust to the new environment, the english language and get over the plane trip as well and I thought that 2 weeks just wasnt enough time for him to show us who he truely is. I also found out that he is currently not neutered so that will still have to be done. He also doesnt speak english nor are we sure he even knows any commands, he is microchipped but with a chip from over there so he will need a new one and he is a bit underweight as well.... he is currently about 45 lbs and to me at 2 years old he should weigh more. I mean Lily,, my 6 month old is already 42 lbs.... anyway, I will keep everything updated and let you guys know any developments as soon as they come up. |
OH GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you have said you would like to adopt him why do they allow other people to come look at him? Can you learn the commands he knows and start using a dual system; say "sit" in Taiwaneese followed by English then eventually drop the Taiwanese (or what ever lang he speaks)?
How will they get him here? When does he arrive? This is so exciting!! I am so excited for you!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Well he would arrive on the 10th in the evening at the airport so he will have had a really long flight. Im hoping to teach him english since I dont know taiwaneese myself. We will see how it goes. and about the other people being allowed to come look at him is during our foster period when we havent said yea we want him for sure. Im sure that we will adopt him, I just have to go along with what my boyfriend wants..kind of to tell him everything is alright ya know.... anyway, im really excited too although I shouldnt get my hopes up since I dont know yet if they said ok to us being a foster home yet. Ill let you guys know what they say, i should hear from them in the next couple of days since the 10th is rapidly approaching... |
Hi,
Wow that is so exciting and I'm praying it all works out!! Panda arrived almost two years ago from Hong Kong and I thought he wouldn't understand English either, but seems like most in Asian countries are bilingual so no worries as to Hank understanding you. I can't wait to hear all about him!!! Too bad you lived so far away would have loved to get him and Panda together. Please keep us posted and I'll be thinking of you! Marianne and the boys |
This is great news! I am eagerly waiting with you to see if you've been approved to foster!! |
All will be well. Best wishes and hugs to Hank. |
So I did get approved as a foster home but it turns out that Hank has found his furever home already so he won't be coming to stay with me. Im still looking for another sheepie to foster if anyone knows one in needs of a good home with possible adoption potential. Good luck to Hank and his new family. |
Wow, he found a home quickly. That does make me very happy! |
OES4Ever~
There is another sheepie in cali looking for a home: http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/dis ... id=5904785 Elfie is looking for a home where he can be the center of someone's world. He is absolutely a velcro dog. He does fine at the dog park and would be fine sharing a home with another dog or two but not a whole "herd". He is wonderful with cats -- doesn't even recognize they are a different species. He needs a home with no children under the age of 12. He's not the type of dog who would do well with kids climbing on him and pulling and tugging. He's wonderfully sweet and loves people. Elfie is housebroken. Donation: $300. For an application please see our website www.zaraslist.com and download an application and email it to us. We do not have fax access. All dogs are spayed/neutered, current on shots, dewormed and have frontline on for fleas and ticks. All dogs are also microchipped. Dogs are available to be seen during the week by appointment only. We do adoptions every Saturday and Sunday from 10-3p at the Corona Petco off the 15/Cajalco. Sorry we do not ship. Sorry we prefer email. Please do not phone. Good luck!!! |
Good for Hank, I hope he found a wonderful home |
Elfie looks so forlorn, angry, confused....something. |

Ron, I believe it's the bad chop job of his bang. A 'do' like that wouldn't do any OES justice. Once his bangs grow out -- he'll be adorable. From his description he sounds like a very sweet, typical bobtail boy who needs a great, loving home and a sheepie pal. |
I just get a vibe that he's had a hard time lately, and is feeling down. |

I agree, Ron. Our sheepies' faces are SO expressive, and I don't think it's just a bad haircut that makes this boy look so forlorn. He's not smiling at all. Poor baby! Chris |
Poor puppy, he looks like he needs a GOOD momma!! |
I agree, bad haircut as well...they tried to make him look like a snauzer, or wheaten....but their is also a loss of sparkle to his eyes.
They don't have an age??? |
he looks like ewok from star wars! how cute! |
I have looked at him and talked to my boyfriend about him. My only concern is that he is a ways away from us and even if we decided to adopt him, we would like to foster him for a while (at least 1 month), before determining so. I am just afraid that my 6 month old Lily wont get along with another dog. She is so alpha and so attention hoging that Im afraid she would turn aggressive or just start being destructive. I mean on the other hand she might like him and they would entertain each other but I have no way of finding this out without fostering first and I dont know if they will do that since they are a ways away. I will contact them this weekend and see what the possibilities are...maybe he is already in a foster home... who knows. |
he is seeinga possible adoptive family on sunday so that is good news for him. hopefully he finds a god furever home. I contacted them and told them about my interest in foster/adoptinga sheepie so when they have one from a shelter they will let me know. So im still looking for a foster. |
How about one of Kayes puppies? |
I am up for foster/adopting any OES. I just want to give a needy sheepie the best home its ever had. MY boyfriend says that if we can't find a sheepie to foster within the month, that I will have to wait till I graduate from school in june before starting a search again. I guess he is right since I would be busy with finishing classes and preping for the board exam. We will see how it goes. Hopefully I will find someone. |
I would take Hank in a Heartbeat. He would fit purfectly around here.. We are setting up the Trust for the Seniors and those Babies that have medical problems..... Although I have seen 3 legged Babies that didn't realize they were challenged. We { not me }will be in California the middle of May....I Hope Hank Finds A Great Loving Furever Home.....Sheepie Hugs, Kaye |
Hi ,
Any update on this boy? I would love to hear that he found a forever home. Kaye...you'd be perfect I'm thinking. You're right that most disabled pets don't realize they are. My three legged Ralph lived to the age of 19. Ralph was a cat whom had used up 8 of his lives, I'm sure. Very cute to watch him jump up on the ledge outside my moms bedroom window and tap with one paw while balancing with the other two. Don't think he ever knew he was missing a leg. Marianne and the boys |
I am swamped here but sure have time to check on Hank. If someone would send me the info and who to talk to in Claifornaia I will contact them. We are going to be in California in the middle of May. We could bring him back to the Re Hab Ranch. We ae putting in an above ground pool witha ramp for those Babies that need water therapy. There is a Trust being set up for the disabled Babies and teh Older Babies to take care of them forever. The Trust will take care of them after I am Gone Over Rainbow Bridge.. Hank would have a Home Foreve Here with Other Babies To Play..........I must be Hormonal.......... There I Go Crying Again.........Sheepie Hugs, Kaye |
Kaye,
Your dedication to this breed is amazing! |
Kaye,
Last time I checked, Hank had been adopted so I wasn't able to foster him. The woman you want to contact is Vicky Lynn, 415-221-5733 ext.3. They told me that he had been adopted right when I was accepted as a foster family for him. He isnt up on the petfinder website anymore but he is on their provate website www.ahan.org. so I dont know whats going on with that. |
Thank You, I will call tomorrow and check on him....Sheepie Hugs, Kaye |
I have called the # and left a message twice and haven't heard anything back yet. I would Love to Help Hank if He isn't in a Good Home yet...... Sheepie Hugs, Kaye |
The Lady at the rescue Orf that placed Hank called me back late yesterday evening. Hank has been placed in a Wonderful Home and They are thrilled with him and he is Thrilled with Them. But, she was needing some help with a couple of other Babies she has. I'll make some calls this morning and see if we can't help her. These people that work { volunteer } in these shelters have such a Thankless Job. They work Their Hearts Out and there just isn't enough time in teh day. Bless all Their Hearts. |
That is wonderful news Kaye. I am so happy to hear Hank is happy in his new home
Also you helping the rescue woman out is wonderful |
