The big news is about Prissy: the wounds on her body turned out to be puncture wounds - probably from a dog fight about a week ago. They are swollen and filled with fluid and have gangrene. So she isn't a happy camper. The areas (three) were shaved and cleaned as much as possible, and for the next week we need to use Epson Salts, clean the area, and apply a warm compress twice daily. For some good news their weights aren't as bad as we originally though: 97 lbs for Prissy and 110 for Mopsey. The vet recommended we continue our diet and see how they go before we get thyroid tests. Another good set of news: they were the stars of the vet office!!! They are such good-natured and pretty girls we had lots of visitors. The girls handled it with style and lapped it up! |

Poor Prissy, I hope it heals quickly. |

Good girls, hope prissy heals up soon. |
AWWW poor girl but sounds like both are getting lots of love and TLC from you. I'm so glad they are such angels and you're taking such good care of them.
Marianne and the boys (The boys send sloppy sheepie kisses their way) Old Blue thinks they are young girls compared to him. |
Awww, poor Prissy!! Do you have to give her any antibiotics too? How does she handle the cleaning and compresses? I'm assuming the vet got all the gangrene out?
Good to hear their weight isn't as bad as originally thought. Are they adjusting to the diet well? Ah, ear infections! All our dogs have had them at some point. Nothing serious and easily treatable. So you're getting a REALLY good taste of what it's like with these "mops." Whadya think? Chris |

That doesn't surprise me! So Sorry to hear about all that they are going through and wish them a speedy recovery! |

poor baby hope she feels better soon |
That poor girl |
Thanks for the good wishes everyone!
The vet was able to drain the big puncture wound on her backside as best as he could, and we are continuing to apply a compress twice daily - she takes it really well! I think the heat and our close proximity calms her down a lot and she relaxes! She's going back to the vet for a check-up Monday, so we'll know how well she's coming along then. Awesome question - I LOVE IT!!!! It has been both feet in with both of them, but it is really good because I can see two completely different personalities. I think my biggest surprise with the two of them has been the lack of shedding. They are both in puppy cuts, and I love to groom, so they've received lots of pin and slicker brushes, but there is barely any hair left in the brushes!! I always assumed there would be a lot of hair floating around, but not so. Pretty neat . . . |
Yeah for mopsey and prissey.....panda sends her love for quick healing...and I send kisses just cause they are that cute! |
I'm am just thrilled that these special girls are getting such wonderful loving care, I am so glad she is tolerating the treatment. Hoping next week brings great improvment. |
Wow those are some BIG girls you've got there
I hope Prissy gets better really quickly. Poor babies with ear infections.... I hope they clear up quickly too. |
