This is such a great chance for my boys (3,6 and to be around a puppy. Our dogs were 6 and 4 when our kids started arriving Especially good for us to see how a puppy responds to them and how they respond to a puppy before we get our own fluffy bundle of sheepie I finished reading The Dog Listener: Learn How to Communicate with Your Dog for Willing Cooperation, by Jan Fennell and have been using the techniques with the boys with great success so far. We have had a class on gentleness, what to do when puppies nip and why they chase little boys racing around the garden! The boys now understand that they can race when the puppy is inside or risk getting the puppy riled up and nippy The puppy has also learned where his bed is and he can retreat there without kids bugging him. This was such a good idea! Although it makes my sheepie craving even worse . |

Sounds like fun, it's great to have a trial run. Good luck with your puppy when he/she comes. |
