Dog collar

Does anyone have experience with this type of collar?

http://www.sitstay.com/store/equip/collars3.shtml - It's the premier martinagle one. Jasper broke his last collar, pulling on it, while we were walking him. This is the one he had before: http://pettags.com/Productdetail.aspx?ProductID=13

If not, can anyone recommend a good collar for him? He's too strong for his own good sometimes.

We just got Barney a big, thick leather collar last weekend. It is nice and strong and looks good too (well, we can't see it now that it is on...) We got it at PetSmart...
if he pulls when he walks you might want to consider a prong collar or a harness.

i got this for walter when he was very bad at pulling:

it works pretty well if you have a dog with lots of fur
Maggie wears the premier martingale collar in dusty rose. I love it but it is not enough to make her stop pulling on the leash. For that, I walk her with the premier gentle leader ( a real life saver, if fitted properly). Maggie still frequently wears a leash around the house and the martingale is great because she can't pull out of it but it does not choke.
Hi-
We have used Martingale collars before but the ones we have are strictly for training only... when you are doing obedience work with the dog... then the collar is immediately removed probably to prevent choking. It was this one- The Ultimate Martingale Training Collar- http://www.canineequipment.com/ultimate ... ollar.html

It looks like they also make standard collars too. http://www.canineequipment.com/ultimate ... ollar.html

I was pleased with their Martingale training collar quality anyway... you can read their guarantee here-
http://www.canineequipment.com/our_guarantee.html . They are located in Canada.
The martingales are nice becasue you just fit them over the head. No fighting with fur to clip it or buckle it. You fit it so it is just snug around the but doens't choke, when pulling occurs, so they can't slip it.
We use a gentle leader with Bosley on walks. It works great, becasue he cannot pull with it, and it doesn't hurt him.

He usually doesn't. We were at the park, and he saw a squirrel on the ground. He tried to chase it. My husband was pulling him back, Jasper was lunging forward, and his buckle on his collar snapped in half. I like the idea of a harness!
Thanks everyone. I ordered the collar for him from Jeffers Pet. I ordered him some other stuff too since I had to pay shipping anyway. Of course, the rest of the stuff got here today and the collar was backordered, lol Hopefully we'll get it soon. :)
The only time I had a problem with that type of Martingale was with Rosco, he could slip any collar or lead I put on him, even when I used 2 at a time. He would do this head shake thing and off he'd go...... I started using an old Martingale show lead, pretty much the same as a regular one but with a small piece of chain that goes under the neck. He's never been able to shake that one off.
We used these collars with the Great Pyr as a secondary collar when on lead. For the real pullers we'd use the prong with a martingale as a back up.

MO is still a lunger since she is rarely on lead. For her, a harness works the best. We never quite got the Gentle Leader right, she'd just go down to the floor and pout.
