| I had no idea she was going back to trial again. I'm usually hip to all the "crazies" in the world. My thoughts...she definitely has some screws loose and needs serious psychological help. I think the pictures should be seen by the new jury. |
| SHe is a few snadwiches short of a picinic. THe pictures should be shown. She had to have known what she was doing especially after drowning all of them not just 1.
Lock her up and throw away the key. Those children will never get to live a life so why should she? |
| We heard all about this all the way from Australia, I did not know that there is to be a re-trial. Gosh how awful after all that she did.
Must have a good set of lawyers and yes the photos of the atrocities should be shown and my opinion is lock the prison door and throw away the keys. For what she did, insane or not she has no right to live a life outside of prison for taking those poor little kiddies lives. |
| I'm from TX, so this was always a HOT topic wherever we went (we still lived in tx when this happened). A lot of the mothers/women I ran into have a lot of compassion for her and do not feel she deserves the sentence she received. I am not one of them.
I fully agree with the post above that noted that she did not stop after she looked down at her first DEAD child. She had to pull that lifeless body out, go grab another crying one and do the same thing, repeat again and again. But, I feel the husband should have received more blame and should be further investigated. No way someone could be going that insane and her husband not know. No way would I leave my children with a crazy wife. She does need to be in a mental institution which is what I believe I heard she got on bail to go to... I forgot who paid the bail. Her attorney or something...??? I have a bad memory. |

I wondered about that too. At the time they interviewed a lot of other neighborhood moms/school moms and they all said that they thought she seemed normal and were completely shocked. But you would think that her ex husband or someone from her family would have known that she had issues? |

| She is completely out of her mind... I agree that her husband HAD to know things weren't right.
I still can not believe that she did that to her own kids. |
| I absolutely agree that she must be suffering from severe mental illness to do something so horrific. However, I don't believe that should lessen the punishment. Too often people get off by claiming mental illness and though it may certainly be true the crime was still committed. ANY person who take the life of another is mentally ill to some extent. As far as the husband goes............I cannot imagine being so totally clueless.

| Because in her first trial the lawyers on the other side used a material witness who led the jury in a misleading way. Apparently Andrea Yates loved to watch Law and Order (or one of those crime shows) and this witness said that there was an episode of Law and Order that aired soon before she killed her kids where there was a mother with post partum depression who killed her kids...so he was saying she got the idea from the show...whereas later it was found that no such show ever existed...so this witness could have influenced the jury with something that wasn't true... |
| OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a waste of taxpayers dollers!!!!!!!!!! I certainly believe the woman needs psychiatric help but IN PRISON WHEREE SHE SHOULD SPEND THE REST OF HER NATURAL LIFE. |
