Thanks, I have the week off work to help her settle in and my wife has the second week off. I'm sure I'll be back here looking for lots of advice. We also have two uprights, so she'll have her work cut out for her trying to train us all. |
I am so excited for you.Wish you a very happy day. |
The last few days are the hardest to wait but the wait is sure worth it Congrats and good luck |
Welcome and congrats Bandit!
You may want to go to the library and see if you can find any training and grooming books or videos too. We are pretty free with advice here, but sometimes having a resource in hand is a great help. I know you were joking about the training, but you may want to share anything about training with your children if they are old enough. Even if they are not you will have to lay down ground rules and teach them to have some respect for the new pup. Oh, yes, please do post all of the photos you can. I so wish I had followed Abbi's progress on a more consistent basis. Every pup seems so adorable. I am sure your family is going to have a wonderful time this weekend. Remember growing dogs need their rest too. Time for me to hit the sack ... |
Thanks for the all the well wishes. I've added a picture of her to my avatar. She was only 3 weeks old when it was taken. She looked like a large guinea pig when we first saw her. I'm working on setting up a web page so I can post pictures, hopefully this weekend.
We plan on inrolling her in obedience school soon. We have found one that allows the whole family to take part with class sizes of around 8 dogs and approx. 3 to 4 instructors. She has to be at least 11 weeks old with a letter from her Vet stating that she has had all her shots and is in good health which I think is great (I would'nt want my puppy to get sick from another dog in school). We have her bed and all her toys ready and waiting for when she gets home. Part of the breeder's agreement to purchase was that we not use a crate, so we will be closing off our kitchen with baby gates. It's fairly large with ceramic flooring, so she will have lots of room to explore and any accidents should be easy to clean up. We have a special corner under the counter for her bed, so I hope she will feel secure. Anyways, thanks for the warm greeting and we'll see you in the pictures section. |
Look at that, a pink nosed adorable cutie. They grow fast! Sounds like you have her future planned out, so Good luck. And enjoy! |
