I just thought this was funny...and is anyone planning a trip to Virginia? i feel a bit silly chiming in here, but i'm only 4 hours from canada (9 from VA) and i am always seeing adds for colonial williamsburg, busch gardens, and recently an ad for Richmond.....though i forget what was worth the trip in that city. |
I swear, Palm Springs looks like Canada... Every car you see if from some place in Canada. Is Palm Springs also a major travel destination for Canadians? I am assuming YES .... |

Living here, I wouldn't know what would be worth seeing, either! ACtually, they are trying to 'revitalize' the city so they are probably trying to get tourist dollars here. I know Richmond was the capital of the Confederacy, so we have the 'white house' here, there are a ton of civil war and revolutionary war battelfields here, and not too far is Jefferson's house, and not too much farther is Washington's house...I guess we do have a lot of historical things to see here. |
I'm in the west part of Canada and I haven't seen any advertising for VI. Palm Springs is a huge Destination for Canadians (my sis's inlaws are ther right now), we can golf in the winter there. Arizona, Florida and California are the main places that the seniors go and live in the winter. (We call them snowbirds.) Candians vacation there in the winter too lots!!! |
Yup...got a lot of snowbird here...they seem to flock to sun city though... |
Cheap cigarettes? |

You got that right. |
I know lots of people who have moved to Arizona because the air quality is better for asthmatics, or so I've heard.
Most retirees I know go to Florida for the winter, but families seem to want to spend time in California. I don't think I've seen any ads for Virginia though. |

Hahahahaha...You should see our smog...we have more "no burn days" in the winter because of the pollution than anywhere else in the southwest...half of the winter it feels like Im coming down with a cold because of the bad particulates in the air... |

I always heard it was because the desert ais is so dry. |
No ads around here for Virginia, but my husbands company has an office there, he had to stay for a week once and help the clients. That was quite a few years ago now.
We get alot of Disneyland comercials....anniversary stuff. I would say California is the biggest destination, Las Vegas, and then Florida. Can't forget New York either. |
Can't recall seeing any ads for Virginia, but I know lots of people who go to Florida, Palm Springs and Old Orchard, Maine for vacations....and Disney, of cource. |
I'm about 10 minutes from the border and I have seen a couple of ads for, I think, West Virginia on American TV. I never really watch the Canadian channels very much but I don't think the Canadians that live this close to the border do much either. |

So true.. |
Hi,
I'm about 20 mins from the Washington boarder and it's common for Canadians to travel back and forth. Seattle is aprox 4 hrs away. We see a lot of commercials for California (Disneyland). I've travelled to over 20 countries and in the US have visited the following states - Washington,CA, Kansas, MO, Arizona, Utah, Montana, Florida, N.Y, Conn and Rhode Island. Never been to Virginia but would love too! Louisiana is also on my list of want to see places. 3 years ago I was in Nantucket and wrote nice poetry when I was there! If I were to live anywhere it would be the State of Confusion. :O) Marianne |
Sounds like I need to write a letter to the editor about misleading articles!! |
