I rather disagree with your vet, but then I don't have all those years of training behind me   Paige, our Pyrenees bitch is very under weight, yes her back bone sticks up a bit, but she has been very healthy and celebrates #10 end of this month. That said:

Take 10 lbs ground meat or oily fish
1 box of the highest nutrition dry cereal you can find. Here it would be Total
1 jar of wheat germ
10 eggs
10 ounces vegetable oil
10 small packages unflavored gelatin
10 ounces unflavored molasses

Mix all this goop together. Portion into meat ball sizes and freeze in small groups, defrosting as necessary. Serve alone or with kibble.

Paige will eat one or two and then leave.........she doesn't want to ruin her girlish figure. The rest of the dogs would glady fight over the remaining.
Zoe, Panda is only 23 1/2 high and she weighs 56 lbs...Our vet said that she was the perfect weight for her height....
Rags is 26 inches and weighs 60 lbs.
Pepsi is 23 1/2 inches and weighs around 70lbs 8O Pepsi is on the heavy side. Rags could use another couple of lbs. She has filled in quite nicely but I think maybe 2 or 3 more lbs and she'll be perfect.
I'd say 58 to 60 lbs would probably be good for Einy or at least a couple of lbs.
Frank was underweight and I increased his intake by adding another cup of dog food a day. That seemed to do the trick.

try mixing his dry dog food with some cottage cheese. Merlin wouldn't eat much when he was a puppy so the breeder suggested cottage cheese and it worked reallly well - he ate more and got the extra calories and protein. This way he puts on a little more weight and it's not just fatty oils.
Yep, we give Barney cottage cheese and he gobbles up his dinner...
My dogs really love peanut butter. I'm guessing that's fattening.
peanut butter is a little fattening, but it's more a healthier fat, if that makes sense. it has protein along with it. I read once for people dieting those who allowed peanut butter stuck with their diet better and still lost weight, I know the dogs aren't on a diet, but just saying that it's not bad fat.
Recent weigh-in for Bosley, at 25 inches, is 68 pounds. He is not too fat or too thin.
Dixie is around 23 inches, and only 47 pounds. :( We feed her around 4-5 cups a day, so hopefully she'll get some meat on her. When you feel her it is almost scarey, she is so boney. Her hip bones stick right out, even. 8O
