I am so happy to be joining this forum. I first discovered it some time ago when I was searching to rescue another Old English Sheepdog. Because of this forum I discovered Petfinder and we now have Copper a beautiful Old English Sheepdog Mix which we adopted from a high kill shelter. We have had him now for over a year and a half. I've never joined any kind of forum so this is a HUGE step for me. But I already feel like I know you guys and look forward to sharing with you. I also want to thank you for you have helped me get through many tough times especially lately. I have laughed as well as cried with all of you. Copper is around 3.5 years old? And he is one of the lights of our life. He is so enthusiastic and loving. He had been abused when we first got him and he was afraid of men and charged and bit my husband. They had quite a time of it. But due to the patience of my dear husband and lots of prayers he is now the sweetest boy and you'd never know he had had any issues. He is now totally friendly to men. But I think he would protect me if need be because he is my velcro boy. Hannah is my sweet daughter and will be six in May. She is wonderful. She is purebred Old English and is the bossy one of the two. But she loves her brother. We've had her since she was 3 months old and she was the largest puppy I had ever seen. We chose her because she put her paws in a bucket of water. She also had the biggest wigglebut you've ever seen. She is very large around a hundred pounds, her parents were both over 100 lbs. She is a hare overweight maybe 5 pounds because she is super spoiled. But in general a big boned large beauty girl. Copper is 65 lbs and very in shape but also super spoiled. Should it be any other way? Hannah's recently had some health issues that have been extremely stressful and worrisome. Last but not least, we have our darling first daughter Katrina Katiana at the Rainbow Bridge. There are no words to express to you the difference she has made in our lives. She was with us from November 15, 1991 until January 14, 2002. She had hip displasia and her sciatica blew out and her back leg was paralyzed. We have a great holistic vet who gave her the best quality of life until Katrina let us know to let her go. And you do know when it is time. She barked at me the entire night the night before. I had been home from work with her for a week. The day she became (the end) sick was January 7, 2002 and she was home with us for a week following with us lifting her with a towel on her hind quarter so she could go out. I noticed that the forum came about on January 8, 2002. January 7 was one of the worst days of my entire life. The realization that she wasn't going to get through this was so devastating. We were open to do whatever was available to help her but there were no options for her. She was a small sheepie weighing between 63-68 lbs. She was always fragile and delicate and very feminine. At some point I will share cute stories about her. (the tears are flowing now) It would be easy to talk about her forever. Same with Hannah and Copper. We are total dog fanatics! Any way is this a start to make up for a year and a half? Also, in loving memory of my childhood cockapoo Puff and Old English Sheepdog Bozo. |

Welcome (officially as a poster) to the forum!
I'm glad you've decided to join the family, and I am THRILLED that this site is even partially responsible for helping you to rescue Copper from a kill shelter! I'm looking forward to reading more! (We seem to be getting a large Southwest contingent here!) |
Welcome to the forum! |
I may be wrong, but you may be the only Las Vegas person on here (that posts) right now. For some reason, I can only picture your dogs dressed in little Elvis jumpsuits and sunglasses or sitting at slot machines!
Welcome! |

Greetings From Canada!
As you can see from all the welcomes and underneath members names, this forum is visited by people from all over the world. Welcome !!! I had to smile at your post as we now know the names of your boy and girl but you neglected to tell us your name. Hi I'm Marianne, mom to Merlin, Panda, Blue, Lil Girl, Daisy, Paris, Mama Kat, Puff, Squeak and two upright boys. With the exception of Merlin the rest of the furballs were rescues. It was thanks to this forum and members from all over the world that Panda (shown in my avatar photo) was rescued from Hong Kong and flown to my home in Vancouver. I loved reading your introduction regarding how this forum was responsible for you finding Cooper. I'm pretty sure I saw Cooper when he was on Petfinder. So glad he's in a furever home! Hope you'll post some photos of Cooper and Hannah and can't wait to read about their adventures. Marianne and the boys |
Welcome from one desert dweller to another.
I am Mom to Pepsi 2 a yr old boy who I rescued from our local shelter, in Dec 2004. Rags a 2 yr old female that I rescued after seeing a post on her here, with a link to her on Petfinders. (I was lied to about her by the person I got her from, like the fact that she was NOT spayed when I was told she was, but she has made a wonderful addition to our family.) I am also Mom to two uprights. Ryan 7 yrs old and Hayley 12 month. |
I wanted to thank everyone for such a warm welcome! |

A belated welcome! So sorry about Katrina, I know the ache never goes away completely but you've paid her the ultimate compliment by having 2 sheepies in your life now, I'm sure she's smiling her approval from the bridge. |
Barkley and Sheba say hi! |
I don't think I said hi before 'officially'...so welcome and hi!
You didn't by any chance get Hannah in California, did you? She looks very similar to my old sheepie maggie (okay, fine my parents' sheepie maggie!--they wouldn't let me steal her so I had to get my own!) |

We got Hannah in Las Vegas. Before I was educated about backyard breeders. Maggie is so beautiful. Katrina, I don't have a picture I can post of her yet, really looked like Maggie. Your Barney is very very cute. Thanks again everybody for the welcome. I always knew you were my kind of people. |
