Two Female Senior OES in FL

This is sad. Two gorgeous well behaved senior OES need a home together. Owner must entering nursing home and this must be so difficult for them.

Interesting. I keep having a thought about someone in Florida who might be in need of a dog (or two!) ... Maybe I'll check into that. Ok, I WILL check into it, but it's a small possibility. Don't let me stop anyone else from looking!
I got the call on this one. Their mom needs to have both legs amputated and move to a nursing home. She's so sad to have to loose her pets too.

I haven't met the girls yet in person so all I can go by so far is their pictures ( taken yesterday) by what her son has told me.

The girls have been around children their whole lives. I'd love to see them go to a home where they would be put on a diet ( they look like cows grazing in a field -- imagine females at 125# and 110#!) and I even would consider a family with small children (so all of you that want an OES that have been turned down because of your small children -- here's your chance. I hear these girls are very mellow.)

Any one near Spring Hill, FL that can go meet them in person?

Also, please see the posts regarding Gretchen (she's a senior stray) being fostered in Clearwater FL. She's about 50# and as sweet as can be....

You've got to love the seniors...

Best of luck to those sweet girls, I REALLY hope they stay together.
Best of Luck. Chubbies.
If anyone is genuinly interested, I have an aunt that lives in Ocala. I could see if she could check them out for anyone interested.
We need a foster home for these two! Put on your thinking caps!

Mopsy and Prissy need a home. They are in FL. I haven't even had one applicant for them and I have ads for them all over the internet so
they need a foster home... Can you help?

Also, there is a stray male (about 3 years old) possibly coming South from a kill shelter in WV.

:!: :!: My husband and I (in Jacksonville) would be willing to foster these two (older) babies for a while - we'd love more info!!!! Let us know!!! :!: :!:
Emily and Ian
You have made my day! They say there are no OES in FL -- it's raining OES Rescues right now. Mopsy and Prissy's Mom and her son will be so relieved. Thank you so much! I have sent you an email privately.

Wow!! That's great news! I really hope it works out well for everyone!

Keep us posted and whooo hoooo for Mop Lover for stepping up!!

I love this place!
What a wonderful result, I also love this place and to hear happy endings is just the best.

Woo Hoo Mop Lover you are a treasure.
Thank you Mop Lover! I would have loved to foster these girls but I'm in Illinois and geographically that wouldn't have worked. Is there a doggie version of Weight Watchers?????
:clappurple:  :clappurple:  :clappurple:
Yippee!!! Thanks Mop Lover!!

These girls really need to be on a diet.
Cross all fingers and paws -- I have a gentleman in FL that wants a senior female....

We now have three for him to choose from... I hope he chooses the pair -- Mopsy and Prissy. I think Gretchen will be slightly eadsier to place.

Regarding diets -- I remember there was a plan for humans to go on diets with their dogs... Anyone else remember that one?

A thyroid test is a must for these girls as well.

Marie in Ocala, FL
Fingers crossed! I really hope he picks the pair. They look so sweet. . .
:!: YAY! I'm picking up the girls on Sunday for foster care! I'm really excited - hopefully they'll be able to find a forever-home soon - they're supposed to be sweeties.
 Yay!

I hope the fostering works out well! Yippeeeeee!!!!!

Thank you so much for caring!
:clappurple: Let's hear it for Emily and Ian!!!! Of course you must let us know how it goes.
The owner's son tearfully dropped off Mopsy and Prissy at my house today. Along with a 44# bag of food and a huge box of treats. I measured out the food that he was giving them using the measuring cups he provided -- it came to 3 1/2 cups per dog 2x a day! Yikes, these aren't tall gogs. Emily came to pick them up and their diet begins tonight! They are pretty playful for being so fat. Read their petfinder listing -- I updated it. These girls would be ok with kids they are really well behaved. I bet Emily will check in soon and tell you all about her new daughters -- but don't forget they still need a forever home...

THANK YOU Emily and Ian!

Hey! I've got the two ladies here - hooray! They were wonderful on the car ride up, and we've already had a great walk. Mopsey is the most loving girl you'll ever meet and has settled right in already. Prissy is much more energetic than her younger sister, and we've noticed some open sores on her body. We're bringing them both into the vet as soon as we can. I'll be sure to keep you updated, and I'll post pics as I get them! :) Thank you all for your support - we really appreciate it!
Hi,

I can't wait to hear upcoming adventures of these wonderful girls.

Mop Lover three cheers for you!!! Hip Hip Hooray!!!

I love happy endings so much!

Marianne and the boys
What a contrast to Hanks story! Thank you for caring so much.
Emily and Ian are doing a great job fostering these girls butthey still need a forever home...

So far there has been no interest in adopting them or Little Gretchen ( another senior in FL) and now were are getting another sheepie rescue in FL -- Heather ( she's only 6 years old)

I've revamped Mopsy and Prissy's ad on Petfinder (see link below) and put in a few pictures that I took of them when they were at my house.

These girls are better than a puppy -- even better than 2 puppies.... Please consider them.

Mopsy and Prissy still need a forever home...together

So far none of the applicants for them have "panned out" to be the home that these girls deserve.....

Emily and Ian have done a wonderful job fostering them, however, they will be getting their own OES puppy this summer .....

Please consider adopting these good very nice girls.... they come with references!

I agree with Marie - if anyone knows of a forever home (safe and loveable) for the ladies please consider looking at Petfinder. I am getting REALLY attached as we have had them for over 6 weeks now. I love them but I get worried about separating them from me after such a long period of attachment - they are big sweet babies! They deserve the best home!!
The girls are now in TEXAS! ( I drove then to Pensacola) Rescue helps me to realize just how big FL is! I never knew I had to cross into a diffrent time zone.

Anyhow the girls wrote Emily and Me a letter! ( I need to get their new mom to join the forum!)

Dear Mom Emily and Ms Marie -
Thanks so much for letting us come to Texas. This place is better than they say it is! Mom & Dad love me, they tell me how beautiful and smart I am all the time and there is so much to see and do. Of course I was the perfect lady on my trip home. I am loving the walks, and I have a little brother that is showing me the ropes. He wants to play, and I'll be ready real soon. We're both going to meet Dr. Murray soon. Getting my feet & tummy brushed every time I come in really isn't bad. It's well worth being able to come & go outside with mom. I like that A LOT.
New mom says the list you sent her is very helpful. We'll be able to sleep with a light on at night. She doesn't like hair in our eyes so much, so she brushes it back and will probably be getting us barretts. She says my eyes will be getting checked out because they look kinda cloudy & she's concerned about my eyesight. I sure like it here. Mopsy wanted to say something too. Love, Priss.

Hey Mom Emily and Ms. Marie. New Mom & Dad tell me that they are proud to have such a lady sharing their home. They think I'm beautiful and smart too. I had a talk with Mom and told her that the beds and pallets she thought were going to be just right just aren't big enough for Sis & I to be comfy. You know my joints are pretty stiff & it's hard for a big girl like me to get real cozy. We're going to get our own double bed mattress (and cover and quilts) for the floor so we can continue our lives in the Grand Style of Queens of the Farmhouse, as we are now know.
Being so well mannered and respected in our new home we will be enjoying our retirement years at this "country club" and couldn't be happier. We'll be sending pictures soon.
Thanks for all the love and good care you took to get us here.
Kisses, Mops
and KUDOS to the families extending their hearts to help these OES's find permanent, loving homes!
What great news!! I'm so glad the transition went well. Yes, please try to get the new Mom on the forum. We'd all love to keep up-to-date with Mopsy and Prissy!
YAY... A happy update!
I hope they both have a happily ever after in TX :D
How sweet!! I'm so glad the girls are enjoying their new home! I do hope their new Mom will join us. :D
Oh, Mopsy and Prissy, you have me in tears. I'm so happy for you both :D It sounds like you have found a wonderful retirement home. Please stay in touch as we all care for you very much!
I'm so happy for my foster babies - I miss them so much and the house is so quiet but I know they are in a happy home!!!!! I know we'll keep in touch and watch them as they settle into retirement. :) Thanks for all the good wishes from everyone!!!
What a thrill -- so many people coming together to provide these sweet, dear older gals a loving rest of their lives. I'm so happy and really hope the new family will join the forum and keep us updated with photos, antics, and more great stories. . .
It's just the nicest thing that ya'll have been wishing us love & happiness from across the country. We've found it now & we're very pleased with our forever home. Our new brothers ( two dachshunds & and English bulldog) have welcomed us to the farm & are showing us around. Our only complaint is We Want More Treats! Since we are dieting, our treats are veggies and apple slices. Anyone wishing to donate pounds of beef jerky or gallons of ice cream, please send express mail to Texas c/o Mopsey and Prissy.
Once Mom figures out how to post pics we'll show off a little.
So happy the girls found a furever home! Welcome aboard Diana! As you can see Lucky, and Sam aren't that far away - Baton Rouge, LA.

Glad to have more sheepies a little closer to us!
Just wonderful the two girls are in there furever homes, I know you miss them terribly but your an angel for helping keep these ladies together. :D

Really look forward to hearing how these lovely girls settle in. Job Well Done and Hugs to you all & to you diana for having these special girls :hearts:

Hi...
I just wanted to say Hi to the girls in their new home and praise everyone's dynamic concerted efforts for making this double team adoption come to fruition. The sheepies are fabulous and will be a welcome addition to the state of TX, and Diane, you are to be commended along with your family, for keeping the pair together throughout their golden years.
I know their veggie diet is a little rough on them sometimes, but please pass on that if they can stick with it long enough to show the needed progress - then I will pass on my favorite doggie ice cream recipe!! It's a great summertime treat & I haven't seen a dog turn up their nose to it yet.

Take care!

Wow, what a great ending :) I'm so happy for the girls that they have a great new home and can be together.
We've discovered a new talent in 12 year old Miss Prissy today at the lake. She loves to swim! I was completely prepared to go in after her if need be, while she was walking along the water's edge, but by golly she swam like a duck! Mopsey (10) enjoyed wading chest deep, but opted not to swim. I think she'll need to loose a few pounds before she's up to that. She has picked up her endurance for walking & is always eager to go.

Both girls have adjusted nicely to the farm life. The double mattress couldn't be better for a doggie bed. Now that they have a water trough big enough for a horse to drink from they're pretty well set. They've adjusted to their four-legged brothers, new parents, and home like a dream. I am so thrilled at adopting these seniors. Anyone who hasn't tried it doesn't know what they're missing. [/img]
Jackson's Mom - We will be interested in that recipe in a few months. We can hardly wait! ... Miss Mops & Miss Priss
Wonderful! I'm so glad the girls are doing well. AND SWIMMING!! WOW! GO PRISSY!! :go:
:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: for Prissy!
