Doc says, I don't want to see a baby for at least 2 more weeks, we all agree, and off we go back home. Scary stuff, but my wife, my partner, the love of my life is beginning to feel miserable, and i feel incredibly guilty. I wish there was something I could do. |
|
You may feel guilty now, but wait until the little one is a few months old. You'll be talking about when to have the next baby! Glad it was just false labor. It's scary having a preemie. |
Sounds like if you just tell her how you are feeling, everything will work out fine. (Plus there will be plenty of diapers for you to change to make up for her misery) |
Hang in there. This is just warm up time. TRY to get some sleep and rest and enjoy this time of just the 2 of you together. This is the last time it will be just the 2 of you!
From an 'old' Labor & Delivery Nurse and Chirldbirth Educator and former Doula: go get a folding chair and put it in the shower facing forward. Let her sit hanging over the back with the warm water flowing onto her back. This will be her NEW BEST FRIEND! Lots of back rubs! Huggs and bring her flowers and pamper her. SHE NEEDS It!!! Good luck guys. Can't wait to hear the news. |
Ooooohhhh the chair in the shower sounds woooooooonderful.....
hmmm chair.. gghghghgghghghhgdrool I'm thinkin about you guys, Josh and Andi..... |

hmmm chair.. gghghghgghghghhgdrool I'm thinkin about you guys, Josh and Andi..... I had an accident 3 years ago this week, where the wind blew my van off the road. *Because* I had my seatbelt on, I had compressed vertebrae fractures of 3 vertebrae. I did have surgery where they 'superglued' my fractures back together but .......... WARM WATER IS MY FRIEND! MY BEST FRIEND at some times........... be it sitting in the shower or running a warm bath and floating............ I wish i had a hot tub. Maybe this year..... and to keep this doggie related........does anyone that DOES have a hot tub have any problems with their Bobtails and the hot tubs???? |
We have one outside that we use mostly in the winter. When we are in it Bosley comes and hangs his head over the edge and tries to give us kisses. The clorine has done wonders for the beard-staining |
Josh,
Sorry to hear Andi and you are going through this! Hope things calm down and she and the baby continue to do well!!! Don't feel guilty! You guys are gonna be great parents... you've just gotta get through this pregnancy and labor stuff first! Karen |
Josh, the best advice is just to BE there for her. No matter what she says, no matter what she does - do NOT get angry or raise your voice. There are a lot of emotions running through her right now that she won't express - since this is her first birth and she doesn't know what to expect, she's scared; she's in back pain; she's beginning to feel like this will never end. She's running on pure hormones right now, so just support her. I know you feel pretty much helpless, but other than massages and making her comfortable, there's nothing more physically you can do for her. She just needs you to be her emotional rock right now.
Good luck! Waiting on the happy news . . . Chris BTW: Do you know if it's a boy or a girl? |
The best thing you can give your wife at this time is to just "be", be there for her, be strong, be supportive, be her rock and as Dr. Phil says "her safe place to fall", be a listener and a crutch....the most important thing be patient!
We women have crazy emotions on a daily basis, mix that with carrying a child and forget it! I had the absolute perfect pregnancy with Micah, our first son but Joshua, my second had me in "pre-labor" for 2 months and on bed rest! Josh is 9 mo. old and really I have forgotten about all those rough days but, I remember daily how my Husband was just there.....to be! It was the best thing that he could have given me! He was my sanity when I felt like going insane! |
Get lots of sleep Josh you are goingto need it when Andi and the babay come home. If yo feel so quilty how about you carry the baby for nine months???
Hot tubs and sheepies. Quote: does anyone that DOES have a hot tub have any problems with their Bobtails and the hot tubs????
My parents have one and Bunker lays on the lid in the winter. If you are in it, she licks your shoulders and my Uncles Bald head. (HAHA). The best story is my Parents had drained and were refilling the tub. (The tub in set ina deck about 4 feet of the ground with skirting all around it.) While Bunker was at Grandma and grandpa's for the weekend, My Dads under the tub/deck and my Mom is hust standing there and Fattie comes flying out of the house, down the stairs and she didn't stop in time. The lid was 1/2 off and she did a belly flop into the tub. My Dad started freaking cuz he thought the tub had cracked, he starts yelling and comes out from under the tub and there is Chubbs trying to get out of the tub and my mom dying . My Dad looked like a drowned rat and so did Bunker. He was pissed. I think he was more mad at my Mom for laughing. Fattie was pretty embarrassed too . She hates being laughed at. |
Thanks all! I think I will get her a shower chair....what a great idea!
As for flowers etc.... I was able to get Daffodils already, so she got 100 daffs yesterday. I'm such a romantic |
How did she like her jewelry? a 100 daffodils??? Wow! That must be some bouquet!!! |
take care of your missus and let her relax as much as possible! Preterm labor and visits to dr/hospital are not fun. I remember going in at 30.5 wks with my daughter and being informed I could go into labor anytime. Amazingly, she waited until the day before my due date to come out! But still the thought...I spent nearly 10 wks sitting on pines and needles, having two false alarms the final week. And now she will be 3 wks tomorrow...time flies...lol!
And as I sit here typing and feeding her, some things others have mentioned that should be reiterated! BE there for her, do little things to let her know you care, help more around the house, etc. Get lots of sleep now, you never know what the baby will be like when (s)he is out of the womb. Mine actually gave me 4 hrs of sleep at one shot last night (a first!). My hubby did things like tuck the blankets around me prior to leaving the house for work in the last couple months and he swears now he is not getting his sleep, though he apparently doesn't get up with me either not that he could feed our daughter...heheheh! I wish you lots of luck and hope everything goes well for you, your wife and your new bundle of joy who will arrive soon! |
Ali, define problem with dogs and hottubs?
Only little MO has joined us in the hottub.........once. I scooted down to get lower and she thought I was going under and tried to save me. She hopped in and immediately was sorry. Two were regular hoppers onto the spa when covered.......as it is located near a bedroom window and they wanted to make a comment at the window, "hey, I want back inside." I wouldn't trust the cover to a 100+ dog, but little MO at 60 lbs was fine, Harry at 75 was fine. My house painter at 95 lbs decided she didn't want to chance it We did have a foster dog nibble the edge of the cover........no big deal. One thing for you......you live in a hail belt......how well I remember. The covers cook in sunlight and can be damaged by hail. I'm not saying you need a gazebo or something, just something to think about. susan |
thanks susan i will remember that! don't think i iwll be getting one soon but sure wish i had one. |
