treats for babies?

What treats can I give stella at a little over 8 weeks old? She is barking a lot in her crate and I would love to stuff a kong to occupy her, but I'm not sure what her system will handle.

We always gave our pups soft cat treats like "Pounce" and "Authority" Liver puppy treats! We also did hot dogs (cut up in to tid bits), but I doubt that they would be a good filler for the kong!

Just some ideas!
I was using cat treats for training when Carl was little and one of the trainers, who is also a vet, said that they are extremely high in protein and sugar and shouldn't be used for little puppies. Just something to think about, those treats are great when the dog is older and done with the big growth spurt.

You could get puppy biscuits and break them up very small or use some of her kibble and freeze the kong. Wet the kibble and put it in the kong. Put the kong in a plastic bag and toss it in the freezer. It'll take a long time for her to get through it and she'll stay pretty well hydrated while licking the ice. It also shouldn't upset her system like introducing a whole new substance like peanut butter or cream cheese would.
We used that stuff that comes in a tube...why can't I think of the name of it?! :? You can get chicken or beef...work with me people...

It's super soft...and you cut it...ROLLOVER!!! That's it! :D

We were the envy of Puppy Kindergarten!!!!
I started giving Daisy hot dogs for treats until my Vet almost had a heart attack (he's quite young) when I told him. When I switched to chicken/ turkey hot dogs he still didn't approve. He said that they were WAY to fatty and that they can cause pancreatitis in dogs which can be fatal - he has seen even one hot dog to cause problems.

However, he did not react when I told him that I generally cook Daisy's food and provide dry food if she is still hungry, and he did not ask about the preparation of the food. He did say he does not allow his own dog to have "people" food except on an occasional basis. I have very mixed feelings about this but have cut out the hot dogs and try to cut the excess fats from her cooked food as much as possible.
We are trying to get our Ben to slim down a bit. Difficult with his grass allergy limiting his time outside. So off to the treadmill and the whole house olympics.
For treats, in addition to carrots, we just put aside a bit of his regular dry food. He loves rice as a special treat. We also used green beans as a treat, until he started showing signs of allergy to them. :(
