You could contact some of the American rescues, in some cases they are able to get a dog long distances if it is the best home for the dog. |
Also, you should check petfinder on a regular basis. there are none listed in Canada right now, but again, some are not too far from Southern Ontario. |
Hello, kshmidt. We are neighbors!
There are more dogs available across the border but what is most important is the type of dog that would best suit your household. From the visable sites you would have a wide selection if you are able to take one of them in. But many rescues only adopt locally, in case the adoption doesn't work out, and the dog has to be returned. Also, I used to know of at least 3 OES's in Ontario rescue that are not listed on any sites, that may or may not be available, or even suit your household. One of them is a mix, so I'm not sure if you would be interested in persuing. I know 2 of the Ontario contacts, so will PM you to see who you have been dealing with. Welcome to the forum, and tell us all about Maggie! |
Hi kschmit...you can also try the OESOCC website for their rescue link...that's where we got our Murphy! I was just talking to Marg today and I thought she said she had a girl...she also has a Maggie too...but I think she will be staying with Marg for life as she seems to love it there!
