I called a few sirlines to see what it's cost me tofly cooper home with me this summer. They want 200.00 EACH WAY. =( anyone know of a cheaper way to do it? |

| How much does Cooper weigh?
If Cooper and the crate are together less than 100 pounds, it's $80 each way as checked baggage on American, as long as each leg has no layover more than 4 hours, and lots of other restrictions. First question is the weight, though. |

| We brought Abbi and a 500 crate over from Argentina to Houston with a stop over in Florida on American airlines for $75. That was in 2000. It is now $80 as long as you are going with him.
Cooper is over a year old and really shouldn't gain that much weight should he? If he is 70 lbs and the crate is 30 that will get him in under 100 lbs. We took the metal screws holding the crate off and put in those heavy duty plastic ties. It made it easier to take through security and they hold better. I think Abbi weighed 72 lbs and they let the 2-4 lbs slide when we checked in. There's always a smaller crate, Abbi actually had a bit too much room in the 500 sized one. But since the flight ended taking a lot longer than it was supposed to, I guess I am glad she had the extra room. |
| sadly, coop is under weight. the vet told me he is a good 25 lbs under weight and to change his diet. he is a TALL boy. and his hips stick way out.
However I am calling american rright now to see the price range in cargo/going with us. |
