Anyone have decent recipes for salad dressings that are low-cal or low-fat? Of course I prefer the creamy kind. I don't like the taste of store dressings, plus I get sick of dressing before I finish the bottle. |

Use lowfat or nonfat plain yogurt. Depending on how runny you like it (super thick versus drippy) you can put a paper towel on a sieve and dump the yogurt into that and let the water drain out.
1/2 cup yogurt lemon juice (about 1/2 lemon) dijon mustard (1-2 TBS) salt pepper grated onion (1 TBS) minced garlic (1 clove) |
or salsa makes for a great salad dressing...
I forgot...tajiki makes for a great salad dressing... |
Hopefully by now someone has told you about the WW tip for salad dressings. You don't have to give up your favorite if you take the salad undressed, put the dressing on the side and then dip just the fork tines into the salad before taking the vegetable. The little bit is surprisingly satisfying. You use less than a teaspoon per salad.
No fair taking the vegetable or leaf and dipping into the dressing!! |
That's a good tip, Susan...and one that actually works |
It does work well! I've been doing that one for years and it's very satisfying. |
