Well, life can sure through some curveballs! I moved to florida to be near my mom and grandmom because my mom is sick. Well, there have been some complications with that. I now have all my mom's animals and mine living with me (5! including the aging shihtzu I asked about before) I also have a new job(I'm on my feet ALL day!!) and sometimes I just want to scream "I'm only 21. I'm supposed to be in my carefree college days not this!" All right. I'm done. Sorry 'bout that. |

I'm sorry to hear you're going through so much. And yes you're way too young, but it will make you a much stronger person in the end. Feel free to vent away whenever necessary & we'll be here... |
sounds sticky...... good luck! |

You know, it does. I guess I'm just feeling very very alone. My grandparents are there for me (Yea the best grandparents in the world!!!) but I don't feel I can tell them everything. Well, I guess I always have Louie. And the cats. And the shihtzu. Yeah. . . |
LOL..chin up...Im sure your mom is proud of you too, as well as your grandparents...and if you want, I would like to hire you out to teach my stepkids a thing or two about responsiblity!!! Youre obviously a good girl with a good head on her shoulders...and in this case it is good...what goes around comes around...good things will happen to you for this!! |
The routine will become a routine soon enough, and then you'll wonder what you were venting about.
When I look at the job responsibilities of a posting at the company where I used to work, I recognize each item, I know exactly what each entails, and I wonder how anybody could ever do that much. Then I remember: I used to have that job. Try to "go with the flow" a little bit if you can, and try to enjoy the time you have with your older relatives. It's too short. |
Hi Isabella,
I can relate to the overwhelmed feeling and I'm sorry you're going through this at such a young age. Like Darcy said, you should be proud of yourself for handling this huge responsibility at 21. The best advice I was ever given and still use today is: You ask yourself the question, Can I handle it, when posed with a problem. 99% percent of the time when you are aware of the problems you face - your answer will be YES. Not that it makes the situation any easier and at the moment you are going through it, sometimes it's really tough. Still, you rose to the challenge and stepped up regarding your mom's illness. You are there when she needs you the most. You are at an age where this shouldn't be happening..young people recieve help from their parents and not the other way around. Circumstances however, has changed this for you. You'll look back at this one day as a parent and will be able to view it with different eyes and think "Wow!, I was so young and took on this huge responsibility, how proud my mom must have been of me". This forum is wonderful for all the people that visit here. They were there for me and others when we needed to vent. So vent away anytime as you are amongst friends. Marianne and the boys |
Sorry you are going through this. Life throws us so many curveballs from which we grow from. We are often given responsibilities beyond our control. Your family wouldn't be depending on you so much unless they knew how wonderful, responsible and caring you really are. I'm sure they are all very proud and grateful to have you in their lives. Please vent away. XOXOXO |
You poor kid! This is a lot of responsibility to take on at your young age. But you appear to be handling it admirably well. I'm very impressed and proud of you for stepping up to the plate. Your mom did a great job in raising a very caring and responsible adult. God bless you in these trying times. As for venting, we're always here!

Thank You everyone for the kind words.
I just have to remember-it could be worse. I Will Survive!! |
And remember, you don't have to be superwoman ALL the time. If you wear yourself down (either physically or mentally) then you aren't helping anyone...so make sure to try and do something that will benefit you... |
Hey Isabella! I'm so sorry you're going through this right now! Feel free to vent as foten as you need to. I agree- try to take alittle "me" time out each week for yourself, and do something you really love, whether it is playing with Louie, or taking a long bubble bath, or reading a good book. It's amazing how just a little bit of that "time out" activity can really help you get back in the jive of things, no matter how busy/hectic tings are! I personally owe my sanity to the conair bubble mat, which turns your bathtub into a poor-mans jacuzzi... Good luck girl, we're her for ya!

Hi Isabella! Sounds like you're doing a great job in a tough situation. Make sure you take time out to do things for yourself. Exercise is a good way to get rid of that overwhelmed feeling too. Take Louie for long walks, that will be a treat for both of you! Or hang out with him at a local park, so you can both meet some new friends. Sheepdogs are a great people magnet.

Isabella,
You know that I am right down the road...if I can help, let me know! Chin up.......it will get better! |
I know the feeling Isabella, I thought the older I got the easy it would be. So not true. When it rains it pours. One thing after another. Keep ypur chin up it will get better, what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. |
Thanks to everyone for the support. This community is just amazing. |
I'm sorry. You are too you to hae so much going on! But YOU'LL MAKE IT!!! Just keep singing that old Gloria Gaynor song "I WILL SURVIVE". My mother always used to give me that pithy old saying "that which doesn't kill us makes us stronger". Don't know that I believe it but it sounds good!!!
Just BE GOOD TO YOURSELF through all this, take time to take care of yourself. Take some time out of each busy day to do something special for yourself even if it's just a few minutes to read a book or phone a friend (or spend some time on the oes.org forum ). You can't take care of others unless you first take care of yourself. Good luck! |
i know that venting already helped you, but everyone loves to hop on the advice train, so why should i be any different...
chin up Izzy. |
This is all I know of I will survive:
Oh no not I, I will survive, Oh as long as I know how to love, I know I'll stay alive, I've got all my life to live; I've got all my love to give, I'll survive, I will survive, Hey, Hey! Isn't there also something about back from outer space... Actually now that I've got my routine down. And all the animals are surviving under my care-I'm in a better mood. Of course that might also have something to do with this place. Hey I'm in a great mood today. So if you need something done just ask! (isn't there a saying: if you want something done ask a busy person rather than someone who has very little to do?) |
Well since you asked.............
First I was afraid I was petrified Kept thinking I could never live without you by my side But I spent so many nights thinking how you did me wrong I grew strong I learned how to carry on and so you're back from outer space I just walked in to find you here with that sad look upon your face I should have changed my stupid lock I should have made you leave your key If I had known for just one second you'd be back to bother me Go on now go walk out the door just turn around now 'cause you're not welcome anymore weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye you think I'd crumble you think I'd lay down and die Oh no, not I I will survive as long as i know how to love I know I will stay alive I've got all my life to live I've got all my love to give and I'll survive I will survive It took all the strength I had not to fall apart kept trying hard to mend the pieces of my broken heart and I spent oh so many nights just feeling sorry for myself I used to cry Now I hold my head up high and you see me somebody new I'm not that chained up little person still in love with you and so you felt like dropping in and just expect me to be free now I'm saving all my loving for someone who's loving me |
That's all I know of that song too lol and I'm from that era. I'm so glad your doing better. Taskers mom gives good advice do something special for yourself everyday. If you don't take care of yourself and have time to do something you enjoy you'll get burnt out and cranky and be no help to anyone else either. Not only that stress is bad for your health. When something upsets you just think " This to shall pass" what seems like a large looming problem one minute will resolve itself with time. |

SING IT SISTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now, THAT'S a song that brings a smile to your face!! Isabella, ya gotta have a THEME song . Somek, remember the show Allie McBeal (a personal favorite of mine so don't NOBODY KNOCK IT), she always had a theme song running through her head when things got crazy. About the same time I was a "mid forties divorce" with a teeneage daughter (is there any place worse to be?) and thought life would never get any better. So I picked the above mentioned songs "I will survive" and "It's raining men" as my theme songs and "played them in my head" when life got tough. It became a kinda joke ...... but BY GOLLY!!!! Here I am 7 years later I DID SURVIVE and WHAT A MAN I DID GET So take one day at a time, pick a song AND SING IT Oh and ED............it's YOUR TURN TO SING A SONG!!!! |
****HANDS COVERING EARS***** lalalalalalalalalala
Stop singing....if not then you all get to hear ME sing and I can clear a room in mere seconds |
