Billy did ours last year. It wouldn't have been so bad if he had measured correctly He got windows bigger than the ones we had. Over a year now and he hasn't fixed the broken sheetrock around the window.
If I were you I'd get someone in to measure them. Then it's probably cheaper to order then yourself from Home Depot....etc It should be fairly simply if the measurements are correct. |
HAHAHAHAHA, I thought it was REAL EASY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But then I just watched!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! According to Doug putting in windows is easy as long as the wall (s) you are dealing with are square and in good shape. But I do want to say that Doug is a WONDER BOY, he can DO ANYTHING and makes EVERYTHING LOOK EASY. And YUP, measurement is the key!!!!! You want to measure, measure and measure again becasue the slightest mistake can be a big headache.
Shop around for your windows. We found that Lowes and Home Depot were NOT the best deal. I bought the windows from a local window place and got a better window at a lower price. Oh and don't forget...PICTURES |
JakobandBrandonsmom wrote: Wasn't it your husband who put in new windows for you? How complicated was it? lol We have a window that's got 3 frames. It's 82" wide and about 4 feet tall. We're wanting one frame to make a only one pane of glass (instead of 3) and storm windows. Jason isn't sure what all is involved, so I'm thinking calling either a local company, Lowes, or Sears may be our best bet, lol, but I figured I'd ask how hard it is first. If it's easy and we can save money, I'd like to do that.
82" x 48" glass will be HEAVY..... |
This window is 108 x48 and I Love it!!!!!!! I thought long and hard about the "three pane" window vs the "solid" glass am now glad I can open the side slider for netilation. But it all depends on where you are putting it.
