have you tried just a regular toe nail clipper? Both of mine could care less about that thing. I've never used a dremmel tool, so I wouldn't know what to tell you about that, I'd say try the basic trimmer and see if he lets you do that.
If these were small dogs, I'd say put him in a coat sleeve! My parents had miniature schnauzers when I was younger and that's what we had to do to be able to cut their nails, that a whole lot of treats! |
My dogs are fine with me cutting their nails-- it's me that doesn't like doing it because I'm so scared of hitting the quick! Usually I have my regular groomer do it but if they get a little long in the meantime, Holly (bestdogsx4) gave me this advice and it's worked out great. Take him over to PetSmart and they clip them in about 5 minutes and I think it's like $5 or something close to that. It's money well spent! |
I agree, a regular nail trimmer is probably best. I think the dremel is something you'd have to get a dog used to very gradually, probably as a pup. |
I use the dremel on Panda and she likes it better than the regular nail clippers.(which isnt saying much!). I keep one leg over her to hold her down and dremel away.....watch out for extra hair on the pad though, because it could wind up on the dremel and that isnt too fun for the dog or you....just go slow and use lots of treats. Ill do two nails and then let her run around for a few minutes and then do two more..etc...good luck! |
