Harrys home-alone-party

Posting you a naughty episode…Harry (now 9 years of age) in his early youth: Harry had never done anything wrong in his life up to this special day…not before or after. Not being like other “normal” puppies eating shoes or tearing this and that or stolen grandchildren’s toys. Therefore we believed that he was a 100% reliable.

From the age of 8 weeks up to this episode when two and a half of age he was always with me at work, hidden under my desk, turning up greeting customers, and quickly hiding again…good-mannered as he was.

Last weeks before Christmas is a busy time in our line of business…five days before Christmas Eve, and we are extremely busy. Harry was to be parked at home alone this day. Provided him with something nice to eat, and enough to drink…and having all house free to himself.

When my husband came home from work he brought me this message on phone: “ If you feel stressed and in bad temper you’d better stay working late, but if my day had been good and I looked at life from the bright and humorous side, you must hurry home at once”
I was curious about what had happened but got the answer it couldn’t be explained on the phone.
Well, it had obviously been a long day for Harry, boredom, or revenge for being left alone at home: All sitting room and Harry himself was covered by the fillings of a three and two seats sofa. He had been thoroughly clever, every thread of filling material was removed from all sofa cushions.

This was good-never-doing-wrong-Harry’s only home-alone-party. Guess what my main Christmas gift was: Of course a new drawing-room-suite.

So the moral is: Don’t trust your sheepdog by being deceived by his pledging, nice eyes looking at you in the adoring way only a sheepdog can

All the naughty things they can get up too, you have to laugh even though things are torn up, I find that too especially when they are home alone! Any wonder they call them the "peter pan" of the dog world.

That is also my favourite picture, just shows trouble in the making and it is so cute. :D
You're story has me scared. Daisy has been so good, the only thing she has ever chewed are the shoelaces on my sneakers that I have become very relaxed about leaving her. Now I'm not so sure that I shouldn't crate train. I would be VERY upset no matter what kind of day I had had (although I would hopefully be able to laugh later) if I came home to that.
And the moral is: Don't break the dog's habits . A Great Dog, Harry is!

Where can we get the picture. I want a bigger one.
Too funny story! I hope my puppy doesn't decide to dislike our couch, I just bought it!!!

That painting is to die for!!! Can we buy prints? It'd be awesome for a nursery :)

Karen :)
CLASSIC! I would probably scream at the top of lungs when I first saw it. I can now laugh at many things my sheepies have done in the past. They just have that look in their eye, how could you possibly stay mad?!
Hi Tove,

Thanks for that hilarious story! You're so lucky you have such an understanding mate as my ex would have said "get rid of the dog"..(which he's why he's an ex..ha ha!).

You posted my favorite picture out of the many beautiful ones your hubby painted. I once took Panda to an isolated Island where he could run free and once took a wonderful photograph of Panda with his paw over an old fence. It looked so posed and people asked me how I got him to do that. What wasn't apparent was his big hairy butt was stuck on brambles - just like your picture!!!

Thanks for sharing this story!

Thank you for the wonderful story.

I don't have anything along that line, other than shredded gasket on botton of garage door. Husband said, "Look what YOUR sheepdogs did to the door (they were in the garage.) I pointed out the shreds were on the outside where "HIS" Great Pyrenees had the only access. We laughed.
