Drez has a few growths on her back. Fairly hard, but they're not growing. We had them biopsied and were told they were just fatty cysts and not to worry about them. Our vet didn't recommend removing them.

Maggie has a few on her, and the vet said to ignore them. They aren't growing and don't seem to bother her (they gross me out, though!) and it seems like too invasive to remove them if they aren't harmful... |
Yep had one with sebaceous (probably spelt that wrong too) cyst and that burst, gross is right. This kept coming up again and bursting so had to have it surgically removed. Kelsey has little cysts on her too but at nearly 11 allowed too, only small, had them neddled biopsied and just left them alone, no need too touch them unless they get bigger.
Also had on my last old girl fatty limponas, they are hard and jelly like and benign and again only removed if starting to get big. She had two of them removed years ago as they got bigger and were interferring with her front leg and making it hard for her to walk. She had a big one on her side that the vet did not remove as it was not interferring with her and the age factor then did not want to knock her out for surgery. So that stayed as a big lump on her side for 3 years till she passed away. |
Most never cause a problem, if they burst though the main thing is to keep the wound clean so it can heal properly from the inside out. |
My two older boys had those. Luke's got dry and hard , then fell off. Beau had to have his surgically removed and sutured, he had them all over, including the back of his leg. |
Hi,
Blue who is not OES but BlueHeeler/Lab is covered with these cyst and I've had them checked for numerous years. As he ages he gets more of them so his body is somewhat lumpy is I run my hand under his belly. The vet has always checked to make sure they are benign and just last week I discovered a new one on the side of his cheek which I need to have checked. I mentioned Shaggy my previous OES whom was such an ancient girl, her whole body was covered with lumps and warts. I had her shaved the last year of her life so as the vet could keep track of them as they are almost impossible to see with a full coat. (It's why I think an occasional shave is good so people can really view their dogs frame and be able to check for any abnormalities.) I remember once being shocked when the groomer once discovered a large cyst near her anus that almost resembled a testicle. Shaggy had a tail and so I had missed seeing it with her long hair. She was by then too fragile for surgery and so the vet and I just kept tabs on it to check if it was growing. As for the warts, unfortunately after her shave the one on her elbow caused her some problems as it would then rub against the floor due to her short hair. Once the hair grew back, it stopped weeping. Poor girl! I hope Bunker is on the mend and give him a belly rub from me. Marianne and the boys |
Boo had a benign tumor on her rear left leg which grow so we had it removed last year. so far she hasent had any more problems |
