Yogurt to prevent yeast

For any of you who give yogurt to your dogs to stave off yeast in the ears, how much do you give and how do you give it? does it matter if it's flavored? Fat or non-fat? i've been giving clyde about 1/3 container a day and, though it makes me feel like a sucker, i actually spoon feed him. he seems to enjoy low fat strawberry banana the best.

I give a heaping tablespoon of plain non-fat Stoneyfield brand yogurt mixed in with the dry dog food. And sometimes I let Chummie lick the spoon. . .
Mitch gets plain organic low fat live yogurt.
Not for a yeast infection though he gets it because he has a funny belly.I give him 3 big tablespoon fulls in his meals during the day.
I think the thing that matters is that the yogurt has live cultures in it, so just look for that on the label. Do you give clyde 1/3 of one of those big yogurt cartons?
Maybe I'll try switching Barns to yogurt from cottage cheese...although with the berry-flavored glucosamine, I'm sure all those flavors will make an interesting combination...(not that barney would mind...)
no, the single serving like you'd take in your lunch. honestly, i just share mine with him. he gets everything a little after the half way point.
Stoneyfield has live cultures.
i thought all yogurt did-- isn't that an inherent quality of yogurt? now i've gotta check!
I think most yogurts do...but I remember when my hubs was sick he specifically asked for live cultures and for me to check, and the first one I grabbed had it, so I don't know (I think it was dannon)
I give the boys about 1/4 of a cup in the kibble. It's organic plain yogurt. I just heard yesterday though that sugar feeds yeast 8O and this yogurt I've been giving has 3grams of sugar...so now I don't know what to do? I was worried about giving them yogurt with aspertame...they say you aren't supposed to give it to children...well they are my kids!

The Gooch is battling another ear infection, so now I'm wondering if in fact it could be attributed to the sugar in the yogurt? When I stop giving yogurt though, he tends to get the smelly ear back quickly! Then I also heard that he could be transfering it back and forth from his back paw to his ear? So now I'm going to try cleaning his paw with Listerine...the stinky yellow one. 8O

Some day The Gooch will have nice smelling ears! Come hell or high water!
Coll...Panda finds smells interesting...maybe thats why she is so fond of the Guc....and if he is the same way, he may like her frito smelling feet 8O
The Gooch says Panda can come over anytime for some good sniffs!!!! He says he would love to smell her paws...especially if they smell like Fritos!!!

Curious, how is fresh smelling feet going to help the ear infection?? Cuz if it works, Bunkie is going to have Minty Green Fresh feet.
Probably to keep the bacteria from spreading as he scratched. Listerine is supposed to kill germs but it's safe in case he licks it. That's my best deduction-- maybe there's a secret reason from Colleen.
