Funny the silly questions you post, when you want to make sure you are doing everything right. Thanks |

I'd say to make sure you get your new puppy into the vet in the first WEEK, not the first day. The important thing is to make sure that puppy is healthy- so check with your breeder to see what has been done already in terms of wormings and immunizations. If you do have any other dogs at home, you would probably be wise to keep puppy isolated from them until the vet visit occurs, just to make sure if one of them IS sick, the other doesn't get it! Good luck |
If your puppy may have worms or something which most young puppies do since they are born with it unless the breeder did an excellent job at deworming them, your older dogs arent' at any great risk because they have been vaccinated before and are immune to the puppy illnesses such as parvo, lepto, etc....dont be too worried about it, just make sure your older dogs dont go eating the pups doo doo in case they do have worms. I recently took a class on canine immunology and they explained all about the vaccines and how they work with the immunoglobulins and how immunity builds up. |
Thanks so much everybody. I am more relaxed and have my first vet visit scheduled.
