It's really quite amazing how limited you become with only one arm. I actually cracked the head of my elbow so I can't bend at all. They don't cast the elbow so I have to keep very still. It's now like carrying around a useless bag of groceries in a sling on my chest. The worst part is that I was doing really well snowboarding. I was at the bottom of the hill and hit an icy spot and twisted funny! I at least would've had a better story if it happened while I was flying down the mountain. Actually, scratch the first part. I got hurt trying to do a backflip off a jump. Yeah, that's the ticket... Be thankful for your non-broken arms! Jill |
|
You poor thing, I hope you start deeling better soon. |
Oh Jill
I hope it doesn't hurt too much. Be sure to stop in ONCE in a while, just to let us know you're still ok. Get better soon! |
That really stinks, Jil. Hope your elbow heals soon. |
Ouch Jill...I did the same exact thing a few years ago...carrying laundry and slipped on the wood floors...broke my elbow..but saved laundry from being refolded...they didnt cast, because they wanted me to start using it after 2 weeks....oh boy did it hurt...couple of hints of advise...dont let your boyfriend do your makeup or hair...trust me, its that bad, and whatever you do, do NOT let him touch eye shadow....go to a close by hair salon for a wash and blow dry....to put your hair in a pony, stick your head between your legs and keep your elbow as close to your body as possible....get used to a few weeks of bad hair..lol...oh and learn to sleep on your stomach w/ the elbow bent and make sure James stays far away from you and doesnt roll on your arm.....
by the way...nice going slick |
And just before the Winter Xgames
(Its not easy being in training ,that would have been a good explanation ) Really hope you feel better, its uncomfortable with a cast and you tire easily. Be patient with yourself, it does take time to heal. Get plenty of rest, when I broke my arm,wow did I have headaches Let Clyde wait on you for a change Wishing you a speedy recovery! |
Darcy,
Did Brian not do a good jpb on your makeup and hair for you? You can always make me burst out laughing at my desk. |
Jill,
OWWIE!!!!!! You poor thing! Take it easy and rest up... I'm having sympathy pains over here... Ow, ow ow! Karen |

Be thankful for your non-broken arms! Jill Just the fact that you got on a snow board at all impresses the HELL out of me!!!!!!!!! You stick with that back flip story girl and get all the mileage you can out of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You don't have to be absent from the forum...... just use the one finger icon click.. Now would be a good time for Ron to get us more icons . You can pretend you are a cave man and talk with pictures!!!!!!!!!!! YOUR POOR THING!!!!!!!!!! Sounds terribly painful, I hope you got some good drugs |
Nice work! My motto is if you're going to do something, do it well, so I believe the backflip story.
Give me a holler if you need anything! Jil |
Ouch!
I agree with Ginny, snowboarding sounds pretty cool. Stick with the backflip story... we'll go along with it I hope it heals up quick! |
Poor Jill!!
Take care of yourself. We'll take care of spreading the rumors and embellishing your triple backflip story!! |
Triple backflip while pursuing OLYMPIC GOLD. Unfortunately her hopes have been dashed for this year, but just wait........FOUR YEARS FROM NOW THERE WILL BE NO HOLDING HER BACK |
Be thankful they don't cast elbows or you'd be walking around with your arm straight down looking like a dork! Send us a message periodically--we don't mind typos. And make James do all the work--hey, you're on the DL. |
Jill,
Ouch... I feel very bad for you. I remember in high school I fell down the stairs and sprained my neck. By the end of the day the story had changed to a skiing accident. The story we went with was that a snow boarder hit me and I hit a patch of ice flipped over and hurt my neck.... It didn't make me look like the clumsy person I am so I liked the story. Hope you are feeling well soon! |
So...does this mean we can all talk about Jill and she can do nothing about it? hee hee hee
I hope you feel better soon...It's not fun breaking things when you are a grownup and have to keep on keeping on... |
lol. i can type one-handed but it stinks--it's so slow! So talk it up, i'll have both hands back in a few weeks for rebuttals!
Darcy, i hope they let me use it in 2 weeks. i'm already trying to move it and james keeps yelling at me to stop. to make matters worse, he's sick as a dog and is failing miserably in taking care of me. i'll be around-- i'll just be short and to the point for a change! after typing a bit this morning, i'm not as crippled as i thought i was so i was a little premature in my so long! |
Great! I be you were worried that Jil was going to have a chance to overtake Jill.. |
Oh bad news! I'm so sorry for you! Make sure you get lots of calcium. It really does help the healing process. . . |
must be a weekend for breaking things
my dad trip over a bucket in the garden and broke his wrist but yours is way more impressive, i'd deffinatly use the backwards flip story wishing you a speedy recovery zoe and einy |
Yikes! Which are is it? Is it your writing hand arm? Guess you can't drive for awhile, can you? It sounds very painful! Trust me, by the time it starts to feel better, you'll be chomping at the bit to use it - so don't overdo!! The voice of experience here. Not from a broken arm, but from my back.
See, you really are NOT invincible!! Chris |
Your new avatar makes clyde look very yin yang |
Hah hah hah!!!!
Sorry but figured while you can't fight back very well I'd take the advantage and laugh at you!!!!! Although I'm sure that karma will kick up something bad but until then I'm still laughing and calling you another name for a donkey!!!!! (How fast do you think she'll type now?) |
Oh, play this helpless-Sally game for as long as you can. One could grow used to being waited on.
Doesn't your hand swell being down-hill so much? Or is that something that happens to us old people? When I hurt my shoulder weight lifting (for real) my MD freaked out when I showed him my swollen hand. He thought blood clot......it was just gravity. |
Sorry to hear about your arm, hope you get better soon. OUCH |
Hope you don't get a migraine too Gee, I wish I'd gotten your autograph before your spectacular spill, feel better soon |
it's my left and i'm a rightie. |
Hope you mend quickly; meanwhile I'll read your posts slowly so they last longer. |
Jill, sorry to hear about your elbow, and your ruined Olympic snowboarding career Take it easy and I hope it's better soon. |

George wrote: Hope you mend quickly; meanwhile I'll read your posts slowly so they last longer.
That's a good one George! |
Hi Jill,
Silly girl it's break a leg not an arm! You know where there's a will there's a way , as long as you have finger(s) sticking out and even a pencil in the mouth you can do it!! We'll miss you're input on the forums but it's comforting to know you'll still able to read along. Know you will be missed and please take care of yourself. Marianne and the boys |
Oh no, hope you're feeling better soon! |
ButtersStotch wrote: ..........i'm not as crippled as i thought i was so i was a little premature in my so long!
That's the spirit! Where there's a will, there's a way. (Well, sometimes.) Glad you're ok, and decided to do a "backflip" and stick around. |
Jill, hows the sleeping going?? |
sucks. big time. i think i slept about 10 consecutive minutes last night. i went to my regular doctor today and he gave a bunch of stuff to take to ease the strain of the sling and to help me relax to sleep (not a sleeping pill, more like a pain pill with sleep qualities). i can't wait for this stupid thing to heal. |
I'm a firm believer in living better chemically |
ButtersStotch wrote: like a pain pill with sleep qualities Please name names! |
Hope you heal better soon! |
so uhhh--are you gonna take up roller blading or sky diving next? I hope you feel better soon! |
