I spoke with Kylie's current owners - they are moving to South Dakota and can only take one dog with them and are taking their older dog.
Whomever adopts Kylie has to pick her up soon, they were talking about moving at the end of the week. |
Since nobody has returned any calls to me this week about Sheppie.
I have left 4 messages and started feeling like a stalker....lol I called about Kylie and we are going to see her tomorrow |
She sounds great, Elissa. She may be a little bit less work as more of her background is known. |
I spoke with her owner for over 1/2 hour this morning.
Kylie sounds like she would be a wonderful addition to our home. She is in full coat and loves being groomed (total opposite of Pepsi) She even likes water... Could have a swimmer here!! I am waiting...(not very patiently ) for her to send me some pictures. |
Yikes! A swimmer in full coat! |
wow Elissa! that is awesome!!!! How exciting to have another sheepie member added! Make sure to let us know how it goes!!!!
Karen |
Are you buying Pepsi a wife? |
Just might be...lol She may be too dainty for him.... In full coat and all.
Her owner said she also enjoys rolling in the mud Thank god there is not much mud here in the desert. Are you hoping Pepsi will give up his quest for Panda??? |

Barney would never outright admit it...but he prefers to be unrivaled in his quest for love. |
Panda doesnt mind being a mistress....less duty more fun! |
DArcy! Are you promoting unfaithfulness! |

LMAO |
Only in the Sheepie world...Panda can never be loved too much or by too many |
Sounds like a great match for your family, Elissa! Can't wait to see the pictures. Hope you get to bring her home tomorrow!! |
you guys crack me up lol
giggled for a good 5 mins about that anyway good luck with what will hopefully be your new baby to love we nned updates as soon as humanly posss. love zie and einy |
Sounds like Kylie will be a perfect match for you! Lots of luck, and can't wait to hear more!
On another note - how's Harley? Chris |
Thanks for asking Chris... He is supposed to be put down today.
I don't know if Billy will be able to do it though. He was in a really bad mood this morning. The Steriods have been keeping Harley going and yesterday I gave him a pain killer Deramaxx that was given to him a year and a half ago when he had to have two teeth pulled. (The teeth had to be pulled because Harley's gum had rotted after he chewed threw an extension cord and lost part of his tongue and burned his gums) |
oh hugs to you and billy
when we lost our white german shepherd to lukemia in 1996 my dad was not the same for weeks (they did dog display team together at the local wildlife park on saturadys as part of a show) he will still not have another dog but i think loving another helps you heal. jmo i wish you all the luck in the world with your new family member, i hope your new friend will help billy heal and i know harley will be very proud of you rescuing another pup the way you rescued him, you and your family have such big hearts to love them with all the best, and hugs zoe and einy |
Oh Elissa! I was hoping you'd have a few more days with him. It's so hard to say goodbye.... |
I kinda knew this would happen... Billy did not put him down today.
He is insisting on going to the Vet for confirmation.....The same Vet that diagnosed him. He wants her to show him the X-rays since we really couldn't see anything looking at them at home. Not bright enough. So I am assuming tomorrow or Thursday. I actually ran into the receptionist from the Vet's office at the grocery store. I told her what was going on and that my hubby would be in tomorrow. |
Darcy,
I need to learn to stop drinking anything when I am reading ay of your posts. Jiuce all over the monitor again!!! Elissa, I am so sorry, it's a hard decision to make and then go through with. |
Hi All,
Kylie is home!!! She is severly matted. They brushed her with a slicker but never combed her. Her body was one entire mat and her ears... I have been shaving for two hours and hardly making a dent. I have to continue to shave... I will post pictures when I get a chance. She's very skinny too. The owner said she brought her to the Vet and she doesn't have worms. The Vet though because she grew a lot in the past couple of months and she didn't gain weight. She is very pretty....kinda reminds me of Hendrix. Billy wants to change her name to Daisy (how original) or Rags |
Congrats!!
If you shave with no blade cover (be careful not to leave burns, keep taking breaks to cool them off) it goes much faster, and you need it to the skin anyway to let it air out. There may be sores, inflammation, infection and parasites under that mat, or even mold. I would have the vet (your own) check her over and deworm her anyway. |
I like the name Kylie...lol... |
I shaved her with a #5 and it took forever. I am still not done 5 hrs later.
I did manage to get her body, neck, head, part of her face and only half of her legs. She looks awful!! No sore or anything but fighting with the matts left her very uneven. I am bringing her to the groomer tomorrow so he can finish her up pretty. |
Congrats, Elissa! How very exciting. Can't wait to see pictures of your newly shaved girl and hear which name you decide to keep. I like Kylie, too. |
I'm SO glad you got her, Elissa! Can't wait to see pictures! If you spent more than 5 hours shaving her and she didn't mind it - WOW! And for the record - I like the name Kylie, too. Since she's already 18 mos old, it may be hard to get her used to being called something else. That's why we've never named a dog - all have been rescues and have come with their names.
Chris |
Congrats Ellisa on your new arrival!!! Poor baby, all that matting Well, she's in good hands now! Can wait to see a pc
Karen |
Yeah Elissa!
A Wife for Pepsi!! I like the name Kylie, but it might be too close to Haley, and when you are calling either of them it might be confusing... I like Rags...we had a sheepie named Rags when I was a kid... |
Elissa, congratulations on the new member of your family! |
Congrats on the new addition! She's very cute! |
Congrats on the new addition.....
a hurray for you....5 hrs shaving not decided with a name??....how about Coca or Cola....LOL but Kylie sounds nice.....I am sure you will pick the right name for her. Vero and the Boys. |
Vero,
Thanks... Yes, many, many hours of shaving Look at this... We named her Rags... She's definitely a Rags She quickly responded to the name so I guess she likes it. Check my photo album for more pictures of her |
Well that makes more sense. I was so confused about a recent post about Rags. I had thought you adopted 2 sheepies at the same time. Alas, it's the same doll. Cute name! |
I am crazy Stacy, but not crazy enough to rescue two dogs in one week...lol
4 furkids and 2 kids...is more than enough for us ....trust me... |
