Happy Birthday, Nelson Jr.!
 Break out the Frosty Paws!!! 
Who would believe he would have lived to see this day?  In the eight months he's lived with us he has eaten half the hallway drywall, the skirt off the living room love seat and ruined a couple cherry kitchen cabinets. (All my husband's fault for not wanting to crate him...)  At over 90 lbs. he also broke my recliner when he bounded into my lap from across the living room a few days ago 
On the plus side, he's been the most loving puppy we could have ever wished for. He's our velcro lap dog, our chase-us-around-the-yard buddy and a perfect angel on long car trips. A semi-obedient, hard-headed typical OES. Because a first birthday is very special, I asked my husband what we should have for dinner tonight. He pouted that I didn't cook for his birthday...  Of course not, he can cook, Nelson can't!
anyway..... Happy Birthday, Nelson Jr.!!!

Happy Birthday Nelson!! You sound like your "full of beans" as my friends grandma used to say when someone was particularly precotious. (dunno if I spelt that right.) You know I bet your mom and dad can't even remember the Pre-Nelson days as you've become such a fixture in their lives. You're a lucky boy to have such a loving family. I stopped to pick up Frosty Paws but they were out so I "had" to get REAL ice cream! Of course there HAD to be cake as well... and icing to write his name on the cake... and party hats... and a candle... 
Hubby was already angry at the thought of actually cooking something special for the "dog's" birthday, so I picked up a couple salads on the way home... and chicken strips for the four-leggers
Drove into our neighborhood and it was completely dark. The power lines had blown down and everyone was without electricity. Had to decorate the cake by candlelight and we weren't really sure what we ate for dinner...
Tried to take pictures but it was too dark to see thru the viewfinder of the camera. I got a few shots of dog butts with a couple decent shots of the cake and the dogs with their party hats on. After the "party" I wanted to get on the computer but my laptop battery was completely drained and our internet router was out because of the power. Power was restored by the time we all went to bed. Wouldn't that just figure... Quite fitting that this would all happen on Nelson's birthday. He's been a bundle of non-stop surprises, a few really bad ones but mostly warm and fuzzy ones. |
