I married my husband to get his Old English - much to my mother-in-law's relief. While we were dating in college, we would go to his house and clean up Maude. The hours we spent in front of the fireplace, combing out my poor baby. Maude was an outside dog when my future husband left for college. She had a St Bernard for company - and those two were dangerous together. Maude would lead Casey around by her ear - and Casey never refused to go. They ate my brother-in-law's motorcycle down to the frame. They treed the meter readers. The emptied the potting shed by dragging everything out the dog door. Including hoes, rakes and shovels. Maude loved to play with the bees from my mother-in-law's hives. As far as we know, she was never stung - a true miracle. And Maude loved the water. The fish pond was one of her favorite places to play. The fish would come up and give her kisses. We aren't sure she ever realized it. After my husband and I were married, Maude still got up to her old tricks. The Halloween candy was in a bowl in what I thought was a safe place. I came home from class to find the wrappers and sticks from 24 Tootsie Pops in a neat pile on the floor near the frig ( the candy had been on top of the frig and the bowl was still there). We never did figure out how she got up there..... Maude was my first sheepie, but not my last. |

Welcome to the forum! You say Maude "was" your first sheepie. I take it that means she's passed over the Rainbow Bridge? Are you looking for another sheepie now?

Maude was our first OESD. She passed over in March, 1981. Kidney failure at age ten......... I worry because she loved grapes and no one knew about the issue with grapes back then.
Over time we added a rescue Irish Setter(Abby), then another OESD (Mandy). Then we added Reuben (rescued Golden), Leia (Golden puppy). All of them have passed at age 14 or so. So now we have Bennett (our current Golden), Bailey (our current alpha OESD) and last to join is Bailey (OESD goofball). For most of the last thirty years, we have have two or three dogs with us all of the time. My mother-in-law wants to come back as one of my dogs. I am just a dog lover. |

Welcome to the forum
My dogs would have eaten the wrappers and sticks... sure, they might have left them in a pile, but it would have been brown. LOL |
Welcome! Please post pictures soon and tell us where you are from. I also have a candy horror story about my Annie. Do you have 2 sheepies named Bailey, or was that just a typo in your msg? Looking forward to sharing more with you. You'll love it here! |
Welcome to the forum!
How odd that we all have such parrallel lives without even knowing it. I was uncertain about my husband when we first started dating and he pulled the line, "Let's go back to my house so I can check on my dogs". Imagine my surprise when there were 2 very bouncy sheepies there! Guess it worked! |
Welcome
