Wondering if anyone has ever tried those doggie diapers for senior dogs. Zippy has been leaking a lot recently, usually when she's laying down or asleep. We love having her on our bed because it's the softest place for her, but we're getting tired of having to change the bed all the time because she's leaked on the sheets. Thanks, Jess and Zippy |

There are actually meds that the vet can give you depending on what is causing the incontinence. If its an endocrine imbalance its usually called Diethylstilbestrol (DES), if the sphincter problem in the bladder its called Phenylpropanolamine (PPA) or if its just a bladder contraction issue its usually Pro-Banthine or Ditropan that is prescribed. Most commonly its the sphincter problem and the PPA really helps with that and a lot of dogs get it. I would try that but I'm sure that the "diapers" would work just fine as well at night. |
I've never used them on a senior dog, but I did use them on Beaureguard when he was potty training. He was such a pee-pot it was the only way I could let him run around the house with me. No exageration, once he peed seven times in a 30 minute period. They worked pretty good considering he was so active. The biggest issue was keeping them pulled up far enough to be effective for a boy. 'Nuff said. |
