Also has calmed down some......like now he will (almost) cuddle with me where as before he was just too spastic to really love on which made it hard to bond with him.He will now lay on my feet insted of trying to chew them. He is going to be a great dog but gosh these puppy days are trying! I didnt know who else would really *appreciate* these milestones. Has been alot of work and I know alot more is in store but Im thinking he may be worth it afterall! Hes not perfect but perserverence and love work. I really appreciate this site! I have learned so much from all of you! OES are really a breed all their own! Thanks Ardyce |

hello Ardyce, and welcome to the forum. Your pup is right in tune with all the others. He sounds like a very good boy. When Fergie was 6 months she had started to calm too. She would lay in my lap and just loved to be loved. She also went to the door when in need to go out. You must be doing it the right way. They will give you back 10 times want you give them. Thanks for sharing your story with us. |
Awww love puppies and all their mischief!! You do appreciate milestones in behaviour. Welcome and your boy is gorgeous. |
Welcome to the forum and
Doing the the sheepie banana dance for all your hard work! |
Welcome to the forum, Ardyce and Zacharia! If you're not already, be prepared to become addicted to this site. Not just for the great info but also for the people. We all feel like a big family!
But did anyone tell you that the dues to belong here are PICTURES???? We ADORE pictures! Chris |
Yay! Congratulations, Ardyce! I remember when Alistaire finally learned to scratch at the door to go out -- we were all so proud! Sounds like you've got a smart puppy on your hands. |
Those are milestones and should be celebrated!! Congratulations!
You're right - puppy days can be trying! I remember very well thinking on several occassions that I may not survive them. I'll never forget the first time Beau lay quietly at my feet for more than ten consecutive seconds - I was in heaven! I thought "Ahhhh...there is hope...I've been given a glimpse into the future and it is good!" And now...a year later...it really was worth all the pants & shirts with holes in them. It is heaven living with sheepies!! |
That's awesome... mine are 2 yrs and 18 months and they STILL don't let me know when they have to go out. I doubt they ever will.... |

Ha! Annie doesn't bark, scratch and the door, go to the door....The only way Annie shows us how to go out is that she gets antsy and won't sit down. She'll find Steve and pester him and then me...back and forth until we say the magic words. It's hard because she will also do this when she wants to be pet or to eat. We really get the message when she climbs up onto Steve's lap when he just isn't getting the picture (usually during a great moment of a tv show). |
That is wonderful news..(I have to brag too) Panda was the same way..she doesnt scratch the door, but she goes over to it and sits....Welcome to the site.... |
Hi Ardyce,
Your puppy is so beautiful!!! It's awsome when the training starts to click with them I am so happy your able to enjoy the cuddley side of your puppy now. Soon he will be stuck to you like glue. |
Ardyce,
Yes, congratulations to you & Zacharia, I know how you feel! I can't wait until Tae gets to be more "lovey" & cuddly! And as Drezzie's mom says "we need more pictures!" The one in you avatar, Zacharia look like a big dog for 4 1/2 months! or is he just fluffy! Tae will be 4 mos. old tomorrow! Tammi |
Thank you all for alowing me to gloat! Tammi....maybe the reason he looks so big is because he is semi layinfg in my daughters lap and she is 6 . Althought he may be big because he was probally only 3 months when that picture was taken. I got him when he was 6 weeks.
Yall are alot of fun! Ardyce |
Hi Ardyce!
We were considering a puppy, but ended up with a rescue (who is really just an overgrown puppy). After dealing with Blue at a one and a half, I think I'm glad we didn't go with a puppy this time! Maybe next. Maybe... Blue doesn't scratch at the door, but he does get antsy and whimper when he wants something, usually to go out or play. It's just a matter of figuring out exactly what he's trying to tell me with his doggy language. Josh |
